Obituary: Theodore “Ted” Wacker

Theodore “Ted” Wacker, 86, of Loveland, Colo., passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010.

Ted was born in Berthoud, Colo., on July 23, 1923, to John and Anna Margaret (Schaefer) Wacker. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loveland. Ted attended schools in the Berthoud area and farmed with his family until enlisting in the Army. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to the family farm and also attended a vocational school in Chicago.

He married Wilma Stromberger on Sept. 30, 1956, in Windsor, Colo. They farmed briefly east of Greeley before moving to the Windsor area. There, Ted owned and operated a dairy farm, with his wife, for nearly 38 years. Upon retirement, they moved to their present home southwest of Loveland.

Ted’s passions were his family, farming, woodworking and John Deere tractors.

Ted is survived by his wife, Wilma Wacker of Loveland; two daughters, Susan Forsberg and her husband David of Columbus, Neb., and Margaret Hazelhurst and her husband Glen of Fort Collins, Colo.; one son, Bill Wacker and his wife Paula of Loveland; grandchildren, David Forsberg Jr. and his wife Jamie and Matthew Forsberg all of Columbus, Neb., Morgan Hazelhurst of Fort Collins and Christian Wacker of Loveland; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, and Emily Forsberg of Columbus, Neb.; sister, Irene Lakin of Buffalo, Wyo. ; two brothers, Art Wacker and his wife Florence of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Ben Wacker and his wife Lila of Windsor; brother-in-law, Elmer Fritzler of Fort Morgan; sisters-in-law, Lois Wacker of Loveland and Rosalie Wacker of Greeley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Edward, Reinhold, Harold and John Wacker; sisters, Emilie Orback, Frieda Kembel, Esther Fritzler; and brothers-in-law, Emanuel Kembel and Bill Lakin.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland. Cremation has been conducted.
