Berthoud Barley Days thanks
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the Berthoud Barley Days & BBQ event at Fickel Park last Saturday on Oct. 3. Many thanks to High Country Beverage, ReMax Town & Country and the Weekly Surveyor who sponsored the event; many thanks to Grand Rental Station who made sure the young kids had free Bounce Houses and games! Ray and Sandy Hoekstra are a pleasure to work with … and they rent just about everything!
Thank you to our booth sponsors, No Bones Sno-cones and Lemonade, Stephany’s Sunglasses, Popper’s Kettle Corn, Advance America, the Thompson School District, Ray LeBlanc — Farmers Insurance, the Noon Lion’s Club with their great funnel cakes, Keith Howard our own local coffee roaster with Mountain’s Edge Coffee, and a host of great barbeque from Doug Gorham of Gone Smokin’, Gil and Scott from G&S West Coast Style BBQ, and Lance Bulbitz from Smokin’ Good Times BBQ.
Thanks to Jeremy Olinger and his staff at the Town of Berthoud Parks and Rec Department who always makes set up and tear down a breeze. Thanks to Ann Kasky, Miss Q.T. Pie the clown and Marian Maggi for helping with the silent pie auction. And to those fine folks who donated pies like: Neal Hays at Hays Market, Carolyn Schenker, Cynthia Midwio, Trisha Edwards, Darlene Helsel, and Vanessa Quinones — mmmm, good pies! Windy Castle — owner of The Jumping Bean — donated a terrific Carrot Cake. Drop in and try one out! Delicious!
Their was great old time rock n’ roll from HindSight who played throughout the afternoon, we had an opportunity to recognize Bill Markham whose family has been growing barley for Coors for over 52 years.
A big thank you to Nancy Hunt and the Thompson School District for providing tables and chairs, and the great young men and women at Reflections for Youth who helped set up and tear down the stage.
Our Beer Garden Volunteers who stayed long hours and did double or triple shifts were: Debbie and Craig Davis, Stephanie Hartsel, Tony Vienna — special thanks for the extra power! — Jay Stype, Dick Shepard, Jerry Maxner, Cathy Burcham, Eric Phillips, Rudy and Beck Hemmann, Barb Mitteis, Bill Markham, Kim Bernhardt, Lou Gassner, Gary Maggi, and a host of others who stepped in and helped out.
Thanks to Barb Mitteis who did quadruple shifts at the Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce information booth. Thank you for all of the great newspaper coverage! If there is anyone I missed, please accept my apologies.
And of course, Thank You! to all who attended as we enjoyed bringing you a little fun, looking forward to fall, in a place where Good Things Grow, your hometown of Berthoud, Colorado.
— Don Dana, Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce
