Berthoud Fire Calls: May 2023
May 1 - 7 Monday, May 1 Squad 61 and TVEMS were dispatched to the 4000 block of Page Place for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with obtaining medical history. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital. Squad 61 responded to the 2000 block of Heron Lakes Parkway for citizen’s assistance with detectors. April 1 - 2 Saturday, April 1 Vehicle Pursuit Follow-Up: East Highway 56 - Edgewater Police later located the vehicle involved in last night’s pursuit and detained the driver and passenger. Both parties provided a full confession. A warrant is forthcoming as the female driver is currently incarcerated in Jefferson County. Thanks to Edgewater Police Department for their vigilance. The vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a traffic delineation post and a gas line warning signpost. Obituary : Barbara Oleta Schaal
Barbara O. Schaal of Berthoud, passed away on January 2, 2023 at Berthoud Care and Rehabilitation. Barbara was born April 4, 1926 to Fay and Opal (Kennedy) Sanders. She attended school in Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado Springs High School. In August 1945, she married Dale Schaal. They were married for 59 years. William Robert Eyl, who preferred to be called Bill, died at TRU Hospice Care Center in Longmont, on November 5, 2022. Born in the Bronx New York, on February 22, 1941, Bill spent his early years in New Haven Connecticut, grew to early adulthood in Hialeah Florida, and lived most of his adult life in Berthoud.
