Police Beat: Dec. 11, 2008

Monday, Dec. 1

The Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department reported someone tried to break into the soft drink machines at the facility and the intruders also damaged the fence.

Aspen Leaf Kitchens reported someone stole the motor from their dust collector.

At 1:15 p.m. a Loveland driver ran into a delivery truck at the NAPA Auto Parts store.

At 2:30 p.m. dispatch received a call from a resident in the 100 block of Mountain Ave. saying that a vehicle had caused damage to her porch.

After receiving two calls about fireworks, police located the source near Fifth St. and Turner Ave. and issued a warning.

Tuesday, Dec.  2

The officer on evening duty made nine traffic stops between the hours of 5 p.m. and midnight. Only two citations were issued, the other drivers received warnings.

Approximately 8.75 feet of angle iron was reported stolen from a welding and fabrication shop on Second St. The metal was valued at $265.

Wednesday, Dec. 3

Responding to suspicious circumstances an hour after midnight, a Berthoud Police Officer entered the new printing facility building on Second St. The report does not indicate he found anything unusual.

A 9 p.m. traffic stop at Sixth St. and Mountain Ave. resulted in the car being towed and a 28-year-old Fort Collins man being taken into custody.

Thursday, Dec. 4

An early morning collision at First St. and Bunyan Ave. resulted in one person going to the hospital and both vehicles being towed from the scene.

Shortly after noon, a Dodge pickup truck lost control and rolled over into the ditch on Bunyan Ave. between 10th St. and Taft Ave.

Another accident in the area was reported at 3:17 p.m. when a 1999 Honda went off the road on County Road 17 just north of Bunyan Ave. There were no injuries reported.

A head on collision at County Road 17 and Mountain Ave. blocked the 5 p.m. traffic for a while, but there were no injuries. 

Friday, Dec. 5

A freight driver making a deliver to the NAPA Auto Parts a 1:15 a.m. did not have the proper code for the burglar alarm and received a visit from the responding police officer.

A computer was taken from a business on Second St. sometime during the night.

A resident reported that bagged trash was taken from his curbside approximately a month ago and now unauthorized charges are showing up on his credit card.

A local woman sold some rings on Craigslist and using PayPal for the payment. She shipped the rings but did not get the money.

A caller reported five kids playing in the street near Seventh St. and Capital Ave. None of them were wearing coats and the caller was concerned they might be hit by a car. They were gone when the officer arrived.

Saturday, Dec. 6

A caller from the 200 block of Common Drive asserted a person named Bob Parker had called him 37 times in the past two hours. He said Bob is upset because he will not work for him.

Sunday, Dec. 7

Shortly after midnight a woman called to report telephone harassment. She said her ex-boyfriend had been calling non-stop, approximately 25 times in the last hour.

The Berthoud Fire Protection District called to say someone had found a white Poodle and dropped it off at the fire station.
