Sentence in Murder-for-hire plan

EVANS MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON FOR HIS PART IN MURDER-FOR-HIRE PLAN

GREELEY, Colo. – Evans resident Jesse Rodriguez (DOB 10/20/89) was sentenced in Weld County District Court this morning to 15 years in prison for his role in a murder-for-hire plan. Rodriguez, who was originally charged with Solicitation of First Degree Murder After Deliberation (a class two felony) and Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder After Deliberation (also a class two felony), pled to the conspiracy charge on December 22, 2010.

According to police reports, Rodriguez was contacted in June 2010 by fellow gang member Christian Hanson while Hanson was in custody at the Weld County Jail for numerous felony charges including sexual assault. Hanson asked Rodriguez to arrange for the victim in his case to be killed. Rodriguez then met, unknowingly, with an undercover officer in an attempt to arrange the murder-for hire.

Rodriguez was arrested on June 4, 2010.

Hanson was convicted in November 2010, of numerous felony counts including Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder – After Deliberation (a class two felony) and Solicitation of First Degree Murder – After Deliberation (a class two felony). He was sentenced to 176 years in prison earlier this year.

Rodriguez will serve a mandatory five years on parole upon completion of his prison sentence.
