Sheriff investigates marijuana cultivation

On October 4, 2010, at 1:45 A.M. a pedestrian flagged down an on-duty deputy in the 1300 block of North Taft Road.  The complainant reported that he and his friends had been assaulted by various individuals who lived on a small parcel of property in the 1300 block on North Taft Road in unincorporated Larimer County.  The complainant along with three other individuals were interviewed by deputies and investigators for several hours.  The results of those interviews allowed investigators to obtain search warrants for two separate structures on the same parcel of land.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team along with investigators initiated the search warrants at approximately 5:00 p.m. on October 4, 2010.

Four adults and one juvenile male were taken into custody and consented to being interviewed.  Based on these interviews, it was apparent to investigators that the motivation for this incident stemmed from a marijuana cultivation that was occurring on the property.  The individuals that were taken into custody were subsequently released pending charges.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation by conducting further interviews and following leads that have been developed through these ongoing interviews.  Investigators plan to present the case to the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office within the next several days.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
