The Fourth Annual Show Choir Showcase was indeed a showcase of talent and judging by the number of people attending, a great success. There was no shortage of Choirs and the audience that packed Berthoud High School Commons was treated to over an hour and a half of musical entertainment.
The show started off with the Kids in Red, elementary students who attend a two-day workshop with members of the Bridge-Between Show Choir. The 39 kids who attended this year’s work shop went through their two numbers without a hitch as their instructors stood quietly at the back of the stage. What most people cannot see are the two choir members who stand at the top of the stairwell and lead the troop. The kids have a great time and do a great job. An Ivy Stockwell fifth-grader, when asked what she thought of the show choir, said, “They’re funny.” Being funny must work when working with third through sixth graders.
The kids were followed by the Turner Middle School Fire Choir who performed “Fire and Rain” and “The Telephone Hour” from the play Bye Bye Birdie.
Following the local middle school was the Growl Choral from Mead Middle School under the direction of Mr. Robert Latchaw. The Mead choir performed three numbers to the delight of the audience.
Next came two delightful “Showcase Specials.” The first number was “Zero to Hero: from Hercules by the choir sopranos. The second number, and original composition called “The Magnet Dance” had the audience howling with laughter during most of the number.
The Bridge-Between took the program to intermission with “When you Wish Upon a Star” and “There Once Was a Man.”
Act II started off with the show choir, featured three more Showcase Specials and finished with finished with two numbers by the choir, including their signature piece “The Bridge-Between.”
There was a lot of entertainment packed into the evening and it was well worth the price of admission.

This was a fund-raiser event for the Bridge-Between Show Choir. The group is trying to raise money for a trip to a national choir competition at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The group has made this trip before and always does well. Considering that many of the other choirs come from towns much larger that Berthoud, their accomplishments are that much more amazing.
In addition to being one of the top high school choirs in the nation, the group lives up to its name as a bridge between the school and the community. If you belong to an area club or association, then you have probably had the pleasure of having them perform for you. Now is a time you can help them. Any donation will be appreciated to help defray the cost of upcoming trip.
You can stop by the school, give your donation to any show choir member or mail to
