[1]Fort Collins, Colo. (April 20, 2010) – The U. S. Forest Service Canyon Lakes Ranger District is looking for summer hosts to greet visitors at the historic Arrowhead Lodge Visitor Center located in the Poudre Canyon and the Stub Creek Visitor Center located in the Laramie River Valley.
Arrowhead was formerly a summer resort, dating from the 1930s, and includes interpretive cabins. It is a very popular stop in the canyon, 35 miles west of Fort Collins, with approximately 8,000 visitors stopping in for information from Memorial Day through mid-September. Those stopping by can get recreation and interpretive information, tour the historic site, and buy maps and other recreation items. Hosts manage the visitor center and book store, as well as take care of the grounds.
Stub Creek was formerly a ranger station. It is in the remote, but stunning Laramie River Valley off of Larimer County Road 103. Hosts perform spring housecleaning to open up the site, including getting the log ranger cabin ready for guest rentals. Once open, hosts will work in the Ranger Station office helping visitors with recreation information, as well as doing yard work and light maintenance.
Hosts at both sites work a four days on, three days off schedule from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m., while sharing the responsibilities with another couple. The Forest Service will supply a free RV hookup with full utilities for hosts.
