Berthoud Police Beat October Friday, October 1 Police responded to a report of liquor in Berthoud Park, but found no violation. Two barking dog complaints were received between 7:30 and 8 p.m. The first in the 800 block of Longview, the second on Sage Place. Both pet owners were give verbal warnings. The vehicle was found in California the following weekend with the front end damaged from a motor vehicle accident. Sunday, August 1 A barking dog at 12:25 a.m. resulted in a written warning to its Sixth Street owner. Police stopped a driver at 1:44 a.m. shortly after he left the ramp from First Street to Highway 287. Saturday, May 1 A loose Black Labrador Retriever was picked up on East Iowa Avenue. The owner managed to claim the dog before it was turned over to the Humane Society. A reported trespass in progress at Berthoud Elementary School was juveniles on the roof retrieving a ball. Their parents were present and supervising. Monday, March 1 Police responded to an early morning verbal disturbance in the 200 block of Second Street. The situation was handled by the officer. A report of fraud came in from the 200 block of Victoria Street. The woman had received an email trying to lure her into being a “WalMart Secret Shopper.” This is a well-known fraud and is even profiled on the WalMart website.
