Berthoud Boys Basketball Falls to University By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer In their final home game of the 2010/11 regular season, the Berthoud High boys basketball team fell to the University High School Bulldogs 47-44. The loss is the Spartans’ fourth consecutive and drops the team to 6-13 overall and 4-7 in the 3A Patriot League. Despite 16 points by Zach Ruebesam and 13 by Greg Hutchins, the Spartans fell to the Huskies 59-44. The Spartans played well the second half, staying with in one point in the scoring. Twenty-nine teams from across Colorado and three teams from Iowa and one from Nebraska battled in a competition of robotic engineering and strategy at Berthoud High School on February 5. The event was the 2011 Colorado VEX Robotics Championship. The game was VEX Round Up, and the prize was a chance to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Florida. 48 Star Flag Dedicated at Berthoud High School

By Thomas N. The United States flag has had 50 stars since 1960, yet today a flag that bares only 48 stars was returned to its home at Berthoud High School. The flag has traveled from New York to California and numerous states in-between, but was first flown in Berthoud.
