The Raptors did not give the Berthoud Spartans much to celebrate in Berthoud’s Homecoming Game. Silver Creek dominated the game and Berthoud rarely had possession in Raptor territory. The Berthoud defense stopped Silver Creek inside the 20-yard-line on several occasions, but the Raptors made most of their touchdowns on big plays. Republicans in the Colorado State Senate issued the following news release: This Thursday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. Highway 56 from I-25 to Highway 287 will be renamed "Staff Sergeant Justin Bauer Memorial Highway" after the fallen soldier from Berthoud. Spartans win third in a row with late touchdown By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The Berthoud Spartan football team made their second trip of the season to the eastern plains on Friday night for a contest with the Fort Morgan Mustangs at Legion Field. The Spartans battled all game long and won with a late touchdown. The nail-biting 16-14 victory improves Berthoud to 3-2 on the season as they prepare to begin conference play next week. Spartan soccer shuts out Holy Family

The Berthoud High School soccer team continues to roll with its high scoring  and solid defense, winning over Holy Family High School 5 - 0. The Spartans have won all three games played against non-conference opponents with 20 goals scored and only 4 goals against. The team shows great balance as indicated by goals by Jano Beltran, Tavo Beltran, Martinius Karlsen and two by Axel Ayala while Goalie Alex Hughes made seven saves at the Berthoud goal. The Spartan softball team defeated Skyline 11-1 at Skyline this evening. Morgan Thonhoff pitched five innings giving up 3 hits and walking 2 as Berthoud pounded out 12 hits. As in last game, the Spartans started the contest with 4 runs in the opening inning. The Falcons lone score came in the third inning. Hunter Hawkins, a 2009 graduate of Berthoud High School, has been called to serve for two years in the Mexico City West Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hawkins, son of Bryce and Nancy Hawkins, will serve the people of Mexico and teach about Jesus Christ in the Spanish language. teachers for Thompson School District arrived at Mountain View High High School for a day of orientation on Thursday. The morning began with an introduction to the Thompson Education Association, the local teacher’s union and continued with district staff.
