Berthoud High School (BHS), Thompson School District’s showcase school for science, engineering and mathematics, hosted the 2010 Colorado VEX Robotics Championship on Saturday, February 6. This tournament is an annual event that brings the best in robotics competitors from around the state. Lady Spartans over Northridge 63 – 44
Playoff game Thursday at Berthoud High School The Spartans started off the evening with a strong performance. Northridge controlled the tip-off but was unable to score. Berthoud also had trouble finding the basket for the first two minutes but led 7 – 0 with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. By Denise Schump The Spartan grapplers hit the road on Thursday to battle the Sterling Tigers in the last regional dual meet of the season. With Sterling’s three open weights and Berthoud’s eight state ranked wrestlers, the Tigers did not have much of a chance. The most exciting and well fought match of the night came from freshman, Austin Bending (103) who battled back and forth with Rock Tidwell from Sterling, only to come up short by one point in the last few seconds of the match ... Joel Maly led the Spartan attack with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Mark Mathiesen was 4 for 4 from outside the circle and contributed 14 points. Zach Ruebesam made his 6 points with a three-pointer and three free throws. Greg Hutchins added 4 points and Jeff Carlson 3 as the Spartans defeat the Falcons 53 to 34.
