To the Editor: I would like to thank Berthoud Community Library patrons for their generosity in donating food for the Berthoud House of Neighborly Service as part of our adult summer reading program. Since May 23, you have donated 213 pounds of food. Summer tends to be a time when food banks experience fewer donations, so two years ago the library added, “Bring a Food Donation” to the summer program bingo card in order to help another important community ... Dorothy Irene (Landolt) Burch, 91, of Mead, died July 4, 2011 at her home. Dorothy was born May 14, 1920 in Longmont, Colorado, the daughter of Melchoir and Maria Brigitha (Caderas) Landolt. She graduated from St. John the Baptist Catholic High School. On November 27, 1945 she married Robert Burch at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Longmont. Obituary: Julian Lujan Huerta
Julian Lujan Huerta of Berthoud, Colorado died June 17, 2011, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 77 years of age. He was born Jan. 9, 1934, in Berthoud, to Gregorio Aguilar Huerta and Natalia Lujan. He graduated from Berthoud High School in 1953 and then served in the U.S. Army. He was first married to Twylah Claudette Seguine. In attendance will be regional bullying and suicide prevention experts and concerned citizens. School administrators and members of the local and surrounding police departments have been invited.
