Shorts Celebrate 30th Anniversary

Bryan and Heidi Short of Berthoud will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 31. Heidi Horton was united in marriage to Bryan Short on Dec. 31, 1981 in Longmont By Judge Lucero. They have lived in Berthoud since 1991. Bryan is employed as a software engineer. Heidi is a computer technician and student at CU in Boulder.

Calico kitten found at 4th & Water

A friendly calico kitten turned up a 4th Street and Water Avenue today. The kitten is playful, friendly and gets along with the dogs. As much as the finder likes the kitten, she thinks somewhere, someone loves this little cat. Call 970-532-3267

Polar Express arrives at Berthoud Library

      Despite the chill that closed the Berthoud Community Library Monday December 19, participants enjoyed the Polar Express party that featured a reading of the Caldecott award winning book by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa made a special appearance and brought a unique kind of cheer to the event with a game of "Santa says".

  Ashley and Zachery Gettman of Berthoud announce the birth of Avery Lynn Gettman, Avery was born at the Medical Center of the Rockies on November 22, 2011. She weighed 6 lbs. 12 ounces and was 20 inches long. The Grandparents are John and Christy Gettman of Berthoud and Larry and Sara Nuckols, also of Berthoud.

  Mary Jeanette Danz of Berthoud died peacefully on December 15, 2011. Mary was a Christmas child, born on December 25, 1950 to Culver and Olga Danz in Ashland, Wisconsin. For the past 25 years Mary lived in Colorado and worked for Vet Line and for Sunrise Medical Center where she lit up the office with her joyful laughter and smile.

  Eileen Elnora Thompson, 79, died on December 14, 2011 from Leukemia. She was born on October 3, 1932 in Sheridan County, Kansas to William Heim and Marie Mannebach Heim. After graduating from Leoville High School in Leoville, Kansas, she enrolled at St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Hays, Kansas graduating in 1954. John T. Hannaford, of Berthoud passed away at his home on December 13, 2011. He was 62 years old. Born on May 7, 1949 in Greenwich, Connecticut to Harold and Delores Hannaford, he was raised in southern California in the greater Los Angeles area where he graduated high school. John moved to northern Colorado in the late 80’s and has resided in Berthoud.
