  Mildred (Poody) Greckel passed away August 7, 2011 in Berthoud. She was 90 years old. She is survived by Clarence, her husband of 67 years; son Michael Dean of Longmont; daughters Candace Kay Davis (C.L.) of Holcomb, Kansas, Cynthia LaRee Gaiser (Jeff) of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Julie Ann Hoekstra (Scott) of Westminster. Gene Ellis went to the arms of his Lord August 4, 2011. He was born in Smith Center, Kan. to Lawrence E. and Thelma Pauline (Rupert) Ellis on September 18, 1938. Roger Lee Gibbons, 81, of Berthoud, died on July 12, 2011 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. Roger was born on July 25, 1929 to Theron Clay and Rosa Leora (Stewart) Gibbons in Worland, Wyoming where he grew up on his family’s ranch. He graduated high school in Worland, and then attended and graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa Oklahoma. Gary G. Olson of Berthoud died July 7, 2011 at Hospice Care Center in Louisville, after gallantly fighting colon cancer since the spring of 2004. He was 71. Gary was born in Longmont to Gilman E. and Margaret (Baker) Olson. He grew up and worked on the family farm in rural Mead. To the Editor:     I would like to thank Berthoud Community Library patrons for their generosity in donating food for the Berthoud House of Neighborly Service as part of our adult summer reading program. Since May 23, you have donated 213 pounds of food. Summer tends to be a time when food banks experience fewer donations, so two years ago the library added, “Bring a Food Donation” to the summer program bingo card in order to help another important community ...
