A public meeting to address bullying and suicide

A public meeting will be held to address bullying and suicide prevention in the Berthoud schools following a recent suicide. In attendance will be regional bullying and suicide prevention experts and concerned citizens.  School administrators and members of the local and surrounding police departments have been invited. May 3, 2011 at 7 p.m. in the Berthoud Area Community Center, 248 Welch Ave., Berthoud.

Harmon arrested in Johnstown

The Larimer County Sheriff's Department is reporting Berthoud police have arrested a man in connection to an armed robbery in Laramie, Wyoming.  The sheriff's department says 22 year old Rayburn Scott Harmon was arrested in Johnstown without incident. Harmon was wanted for an alleged robbery in Laramie and and was also accused of stealing a 2006 Cadillac Escalade that he reported sinking into Carter Lake last Monday after he had taken it for a test drive from a Berthoud auto ... Elven Herbert Marshall August 19, 1925 – April 26, 2011 Elven Herbert Marshall, 85, of Harvey, North Dakota, formerly of Berthoud, Colorado died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Elven was born on August 19, 1925 on the family homestead near Encampment, Wyoming. He was the son of Gale and Georgia (Hawkins) Marshall. Local High School Team wins robotics trophy

Three Berthoud teams of robotics whiz kids competed in the VEX Robotics World Championship at Disney World last week. Nearly 10,000 middle school, high school and university students from 16 countries participated in the event. Round Up, the 2010-2011 VEX Robotics Competition Game, is played on a 12’x12’ square field where two alliances composed of two teams each compete against one another.   People who drive past Riverglenn on County Road 17 are usually treated to the sight of a pair of swans swimming in Treena and Dave Milano’s pond. This week however, the swans are usually sequestered in their enclosure. The reason, on Tuesday the pen hatched three of the five eggs in her clutch and Milano was worried that the foxes and coyotes that frequent the area might find the cygnets a tasty meal.
