He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. Jerry and Billie Ruth Galyon, along with another couple, Otis Lee Bass and Morrisann Ramsey, eloped in 1959 and have enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Jim was born November 6, 1924 in Woodrow, Colorado to Ross Morton Laffoon and Bessie Canatsey Laffoon. He grew up on a farm on the eastern plains of Colorado and later moved to Aurora where he graduated from William Smith High School.
