Black Lab went missing from Berthoud Estates on 5/25 between 10:00am and 4:30pm. He is wearing identification, but nobody has called. Signs have also been placed around the area.He is extremely skinny, and I am worried that someone has found him and decided that his owners don't deserve to have him because of his current condition. Betty Helen (Ferry) Bashor, 91, of Berthoud, passed away at the Lemay Long Term Care Center in Fort Collins on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Betty was born in Spokane, Washington on June 4, 1922 to Mildred (Cramer) Ferry and Frank V. Ferry. Betty was married to E. Eugene “Gene” Bashor for 68 years. They made their home farming in the Berthoud/Johnstown area until 1977 when they retired to Berthoud. Gene preceded her in death in July of 2010. Judith Ann “Judy” Pearce of Windsor, Colorado passed away unexpectedly April 15, 2014 at the age 75. Judy was born to Pete and Maxine Baller on June 14, 1938 in Longmont, Colorado. Her ancestors were early pioneers to Longmont and her great grandfather, Amos Millice joined the Chicago Colony helping to form Longmont and was part of the survey crew helping to lay out the town.   Pauline Sterkel, 102, formerly of Berthoud, died April 26 at the Wakefield Care Center in Nebraska. She was born August 29, 1911, in Norka, Russia, to John and Elizabeth Rothermel Kaiser. At the age of 2, she came to the United States with her parents. She married Henry Sterkel on November 25, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1992. Peter Eric Van Kleek, 85, of Berthoud,  died on March 18, 2014 at Broomfield Skilled Facility in Broomfield.  He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1929 to John Raymond and Joan (Hill) Van Kleek. Dear Editor, I am a fifth generation Larimer County native, one generation removed from the cattle business. I am concerned about Berthoud’s unneeded Growth Management Area (GMA) expansions and annexations outside of existing GMA boundaries. Berthoud’s current GMA is over 24,000 acres in size. Berthoud currently has 10,712 lots in some type of planning review (enough for a population of well over 30,000 people).
