Three military mothers started a local support group for each other and for their families. Laural Downer and Beth Sterck are the founding members and as one of their first projects, they want to send packages to local service men and women serving overseas. Berthoud man was shot and killed by a SWAT unit after deputies say he opened fire on them Monday night. It's a policeman's worst nightmare, being called to a scene of domestic violence and finding someone with a weapon. Monday night around 9 p.m. Berthoud police responded to a call at 730 Bruce Drive. Berthoud High School 2010 graduate Abigail Yeagle, an Earlham College first-year and student and daughter of Theresa and Mark Yeagle of Berthoud, has been selected as a Bonner Scholar this semester at the college. The Bonner Scholars Program is a four-year developmental leadership program that is rooted in community service. Lloyd Glenn, a Fort Collins businessman, has been called to serve as Bishop of the Berthoud-based Twin Peaks Young Single Adults Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
