It came as a complete surprise for Berthoud resident Denise Schump when she was called to the stage at Lucile Erwin Middle School at a special assembly on Tuesday. She had been nominated for special recognition by Blake Martin, a student in her eighth grade class. Blake had written a letter to the TRI 102.5 radio station, which, in partnership with K99 radio in Windsor, honors a teacher each Tuesday of the school year. Kenneth M. Kegerreis, wonderful husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Berthoud on Oct. 18, 2010, after an extended illness. Kenneth was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Hartford City, Ind., to Wayne and Lena Kegerreis. He went on to proudly serve in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. Last nights Old Fashioned Political Rally at the Ranch was gala affair even though the major party candidates for U.S. Senate and the governorship did not attend. The line up of speakers was continuous from the 5:40 p.m. start time until nearly 9 o’clock.
