Charles B. Pfab, 77, of Berthoud passed away February 11, 2010. He was born October 21, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Francis and Marie (Becker) Pfab. He attended St. Catherine’s Catholic School in Pittsburgh and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On February 17, 1960 he and Pauline Evans were married in Denver, Colorado.  She preceded him in death in 1984. Gloria J. Jansma, 66, of Loveland, CO went to her Lord on February 9, 2010, after a two-year battle with brain cancer; her family was by her side. She was born July 1, 1943 in Lansing, Illinois to Bartel “Ben” and Winnie (VanKalker) Ruiter. She was born on October 7, 1950 in Greeley, CO, to Chester Herman and Agnes Marian (Anderson) Stevens. Marilyn graduated from Loveland High School. There is a new fitness center in town. It is located at the west end of what is commonly referred to as the Hays Market shopping center. This center joins two other Snap Fitness centers in the area, one in Firestone, and the other in Fort Collins. The new operation is owned by Milo Carley, who operates the Fort Collins club. “Cow Dung Dust”

“Cow Dung Dust,” is Rick Padden’s latest play. Padden is the playwright for Berthoud’s newest theater venture, The Moon Theater Company, and will perform a staged reading of his new play at the Berthoud Foursquare Church this Evening. The play is about a group of hitchhikers who get a ride in the back of a cattle truck driving along Route 66. The reading is at 7 p.m., Friday, February 5. The admission charge is $5.

These Canada Geese made a rest stop at the Wagner Farm Park on Monday morning. Berthoud lies along the Central Flyway, a migratory route for the geese. This flock consists of early migrators flying north following the melting snowline. Their destination is the nesting grounds in Canada. Joel Maly led the Spartan attack with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Mark Mathiesen was 4 for 4 from outside the circle and contributed 14 points. Zach Ruebesam made his 6 points with a three-pointer and three free throws. Greg Hutchins added 4 points and Jeff Carlson 3 as the Spartans defeat the Falcons 53 to 34.
