Marina V. Seering, age 99, (working on a 100), of Berthoud went to heaven on July 23, 2010 at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland. Born in the Dominican Republic, immigrated in 1929 and became a naturalized citizen in 1943. Married and later divorced from Vincent LaRaque, they had three children, Denis (deceased military), Yvonne L. Dawdy (Jack) of Berthoud, and Gabriel LaRaque of California. By Judy Lehn Wednesday’s Citizen First forum on Berthoud water drew about 50 residents who wanted to hear what Town Administrator Michael Hart had to say. The subjects covered ranged from the annual foul smelling and tasting water, to the “exorbitant” water bills paid by town citizens. Thursday, July 1 Dog days at the Police Department. In the early morning, 2 a.m., the Loveland Report Herald driver brought in a Jack Russell Terrier. Water bubbling up in a field at SE Second Street and East Colorado Avenue was cause enough for a concerned citizen to report it to authorities. Police turned the matter over to the water department. Pre-Fair activity at The Ranch
With he fair only a couple of days away, the Ranch still looks barren, but plenty is going on behind the scenes. The carnival area is just in the beginning stages, but it won’t take the carnival workers long to set up. Meanwhile, the 4-H kids have been bringing their exhibits in for judging and display setup. The Wildfire Summer Mural project is nearing completion as the crew puts on the finishing touches. Julia Lamb and Lane Foley were on the job early Thursday morning. The youngsters work under the direction of Anita Yeh. Yeh’s specialty is Asian Inspired Design. A multicultural artist, Yeh was raised in the U.S. but has lived in China and Taiwan.
