Smith Has Integrity

In this campaign season, we’ve been bombarded with questions of integrity, experience, past history. We crave a candidate with integrity, experience, and a history that is open and honest and without skeletons. We have this candidate, Justin Smith for Larimer County Sheriff. Justin Smith is a current high-ranking member of our sheriff’s office. Over the last two decades, he has worked as a deputy, sergeant, and division commander, has worked in Internal Affairs, and ... Election a turning point in Law Enforcement

This election is a turning point in Law Enforcement in Larimer County. This is why we must elect a Sheriff who puts the Law first. Al Ohms is not that man. Campaign finance reporting and open campaign finance records are vital to the democratic process. Both the Colorado Constitution and Colorado Statutes recognize that it is important to for the electorate to see who is funding our candidates. County candidates were required to file their first campaign finance report on July 20, ... Full Story

Vote for Justin Smith for Larimer County Sheriff!

Dear Editor: I have seen a great deal of candidates come and go through Larimer County. I am very impressed with Justin Smith, candidate for Larimer County Sheriff, and his credentials to lead the Sheriff’s Office. Justin has the professional experience, education and respect required to be a great sheriff. His career in law enforcement started in 1987, and he has spent nearly 20 years of his career serving the citizens here in Larimer County. Justin is a graduate of the FBI ... Full Story

Justin Smith only realistic choice

Dear Editor: Justin Smith is the only realistic choice for Larimer County Sheriff. Justin has worked in local law enforcement for nearly 20 years and has administered the Larimer County Sheriff’s budget, managed the detention center, responded to emergencies and most importantly, patrolled the streets of this community and responded to victims in Larimer County for most of his career. He has achieved numerous law enforcement awards and furthered his professional education ... Full Story

Sheriff’s job is local issues

Sheriff’s job is local issues

Dear Editor, In our local race for county sheriff, a few believe that the candidate of choice is one that will stand with people “who plan to protect our nation at all costs” (Jeffry Aufderheide, Wellington, Coloradoan Letter to the Editor, July 3rd). Much is being made of concerns about the power of our federal government, our porous national borders, and our constitutional rights. These are expansive concerns we should all share with our state and national ... Full Story

Please vote for Justin Smith

Dear Editor: Our sheriff’s race seems to be filled with candidates with little to no experience, or experience that ended years ago. There is however one exception. Justin Smith is a current commander at our sheriff’s office and he has served there since 1991. He has worked as a patrol deputy, K9 officer, investigator, sergeant, and division commander over administrative functions, the jail, and operations. Justin Smith also obtained his Masters in Criminal Justice ... Full Story

With a $43 million budget and 420 employees, the office of sheriff needs a person who has the business experience to handle these. The right person could save taxpayers' money by streamlining the sheriff's department. That person is Carl Bruning. Carl brings the kind of leadership needed to manage an organization effectively. His executive business experience and leadership experience as an U. S. Air Force officer and commander position him for success in this role. Endorsements also say ... Full Story

Smith, true lawman and public servant

Smith, true lawman and public servant

I’ve been watching the Sheriff’s race with some interest over the last several months and I have to ask; who is this Constitutional Carl that recently arrived on the political scene? I’ve attended candidate forums and speaking engagements and to be honest, I’ve yet to hear any real substance from him. He simply espouses the kind of rhetoric that we’ve all come to expect from aspiring politicians over the years. Once you cut through the rhetoric, he appears to be just ... Full Story

Supporting Carl Bruning

It was great to see Carl Bruning and his wonderful supporters at the many events around Larimer County in recent weeks. They were handing out stickers to children and interacting with the public in a positive way that we all can appreciate. It will be good to have Carl Bruning leading the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office in a positive way in the years ahead. It will be good to have a sheriff bringing a breath of fresh air to the department with a renewed focus on serving "we the people" ... Full Story

Letter to the Editor on Candidate for Larimer County

Letter to the Editor on Candidate for Larimer County Sheriff

Larimer County has a very important election this fall. The current Sheriff is term-limited, so we the citizens must elect a replacement and choose someone not just to protect us, but lead us and effectively run the largest elected office in the county. We need someone who has experience, education and proven dedication to law enforcement. We must determine for ourselves what qualifications each candidate possesses. Do they have actual experience as a peace officer? Have they served in a ... Full Story
