Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident activity for December 2012   Saturday, December 1 BFPD responded to Fourth Street for a patient who had fallen and needed lift assistance. BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Fourth Street. The patient was transported. BFPD responded to a reported smoke odor in the 5300 block of Glen Drive.   Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident activity for November 2012   Monday, November 5 BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at Mile marker 252. A single vehicle had hit the guardrail. There were no injuries reported. BFPD responded to a reported dumpster fire near a structure on Fifth Street. Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident activity for December Thursday, December 1 BFPD responded with TVEMS to a reported motor vehicle accident on 287 near County Road 2E.   This was a multiple car accident and Mountain View Fire and Longmont Fire also responded.  Berthoud crew assisted with transporting one patient.   Small steps can make positive changes.  Is is time to change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Tragically, home fires kill 500 children ages 14 and under each year. In the U.S., almost two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes without working smoke alarms. Forty percent of the fatal fire injuries occurred in homes with no smoke alarms at all, while 23% occurred in homes in which at least one smoke alarm was present but failed to operate. The ...
