Obituary: Leah M. Moore

  Leah M. Moore, 97, of Loveland died peacefully at her daughter’s home October 8, 2013. She was born March 30, 1916 in Severance, Colorado, to Fred and Katherine Brunner. Leah graduated from Eaton High School in 1934 and graduated with a Nursing degree at Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1937. She was surgical nurse at Loveland Memorial Hospital for over many years, retiring in 1975. She has lived in Loveland for 51 years before moving to Berthoud 7 years ago. Leah married Paul ... Boys and Girls Teams Fall to Eaton By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer   Both the Berthoud High girls and boys basketball teams lost their respective contests with the Eaton Reds on Tuesday evening. The boys team lost 70-56 while girls fell 62-42. The losses are first of the season both Spartan teams in 3A Patriot League play. Spartans come up short late, lose 65-59 By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer Tuesday night in the Berthoud High School gym the Spartan boys basketball team fell to the Eaton Reds 65-59. The loss drops Berthoud to 3-7 on the year and 0-2 in the Patriot League. The Spartans battled all game long, taking a 48-48 tie into the fourth and final period of the game. By Denise Schump The Spartan grapplers hit the road on Thursday to battle the Sterling Tigers in the last regional dual meet of the season. With Sterling’s three open weights and Berthoud’s eight state ranked wrestlers, the Tigers did not have much of a chance. The most exciting and well fought match of the night came from freshman, Austin Bending (103) who battled back and forth with Rock Tidwell from Sterling, only to come up short by one point in the last few seconds of the match ... Berthoud Wrestlers Dominate Soeby Spartan Classic

Coach Pickert was pleased with his wrestlers performance at Saturday’s dual with four other schools. As the scores show, Berthoud dominated every school attending the meet. Fine individual performances and team performance put Berthoud well ahead, outscoring their opponents 230 to 60.
