180-Day reservation window implemented for campgrounds

Monday, January 3, 2011, at 9 a.m. starts the beginning of a 180-day camping reservation window for Larimer County-managed campgrounds!  Reservations for Memorial Day weekend, Father’s Day weekend, and the first week in July can be made during the first week of January. Larimer County Annual Entrance Permits for 2011

The 2011 Larimer County Department of Natural Resources' Annual Entrance Permits, for parks and open spaces managed by Larimer County, will be available for purchase on December 1. These are 13-month permits, valid December 2010, through December 2011, and allow use of Carter Lake, Flatiron Reservoir, Hermit Park Open Space, Horsetooth Reservoir, Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, Pinewood Reservoir, and Ramsay-Shockey Open Space. Reservoir Road Evacuees get to go home.

Amid cheers of the crowd, Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden told the evacuees that they could go home today. He had some cautions for residents. He asked that they limit driving during the hours of 6 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m., peak hours for fire crews as they change shifts. “Do not call 911 if you see smoke,” he said. The wild land fire between Flatiron Reservoir and Pinewood Reservoir west of Loveland has officially been named the Reservoir Road Fire. Initial response was by Loveland Fire Department with assist from Big Thompson Volunteer Fire, Loveland Rural, Berthoud Fire, Union Colony, Windsor Severance, Poudre Fire Authority, Larimer County Sheriff, US Forest Service, Lyons Fire, Hygiene Fire, Estes Park Fire, Wellington Fire, Glen Haven and Pinewood Springs. Major wild land fire at Flatiron Reservoir

A smoke plum visible from along the front range marks the location of a major wild land fire just west of Flatiron Reservoir west of Loveland. The location of the fire at noon on Sunday was bounded by Pole Hill Road (West County Road 18E), Chimney Hollow Road and an unnamed road on the west side of the reservoir.
