Former-Panthers Coach Brings Physical Defense, Conservative Offense By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer Friday afternoon John Fox was introduced as the fourteenth head coach in Denver Broncos team history. Fox had spent the previous nine seasons in the same role for the Carolina Panthers, compiling a 78-74 record including the playoffs. The Broncos started strong in their lone Monday Night Football appearance of the season but couldn't keep it going, falling to the San Diego Chargers, 35-14, at Qualcomm Stadium. Knowshon Moreno capped a 6-play, 69-yard opening drive with a 4-yard touchdown run. By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The Berthoud High football team finished the 2010 season with a 3-7 record and last place finish in the 3A Northern conference. The disappointing record did not stop the team from celebrating their achievements and honoring the graduating seniors on Wednesday evening. Two seniors were singled out for special recognition. Jesse Lyman was given the Spartan Football Warrior Award and Steven Fiske was recognized with the Jeff Shriver Award. Both awards are handed out ... Full Story
Disappointing season ends with 40-21 loss to Skyline By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The frustrating 2010 season for the Berthoud High football team ended in disappointing fashion Friday night at Max Marr Field. The Spartans dropped their final game of the season 40-21 to the Skyline Falcons. The Spartans finished with the season with a 3-7 record and were 0-5 in 3A Northern conference play. Berthoud football drops to Mountain View 38-7 By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer Friday night at Ray Patterson Field in Loveland the Berthoud Spartan football team lost their fourth consecutive game by 38-7 score to the Mountain View Mountain Lions. The loss drops Berthoud’s record to 3-6 on the season and 0-4 in the conference. Mountain View entered the week as the number five ranked team statewide in class 3A.
