Berthoud Boys Basketball Tops Roosevelt 58-55 By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The Berthoud Spartans are grateful that high school basketball games run for only 32 minutes; if games lasted any longer the Spartans could very well have emerged from Friday night’s contest with Roosevelt as the losing team rather than the winning one. Berthoud Marine recovering from injuries suffered in IED explosion By Pierrette J. Carissa Finnegan is a freshman at Berthoud High School. One of her Facebook friends is family friend who is serving as a nurse in Kigali, Rwanda. Carissa was amazed at some of the photos her friend posted. The children in her photos did not have many toys or books and hardly had clothes to wear. Carissa wanted to do something to help those children. She set up an event on Facebook and asked for donations to purchase items to send to the kids in Kigali. Unfortunately, the response was ... Berthoud The Berthoud High School softball team won each of their state tournament playoff games on Friday and, for the second consecutive year, will advance to the 3A State semi-finals. The Lady Spartans toppled Holyoke 7-2 in the Round 1 game before beating second-seed Holy Family 13-8 in the quarter-final game. Berthoud will face off against Rocky Ford at 10:00am Saturday morning at Aurora Sports Park.
