Fort Collins, CO –Firefighters are planning a burnout Saturday morning April 9 ahead of potentially changing weather.  The burnout will encompass approximately 20-25 acres and is at the north end of the fire; south of Deerpath Road and Larimer County Road 44H, west of County Road 27.  The operation will produce a significant amount of smoke in the area and residents should not call 911 unless they are sure of a new fire. Residents in the Crystal Fire area who lost property are asked to call Larimer County Emergency Manager Erik Nilsson to report their loss.  The number is 970-498-5310.  If the number is busy or there is no answer, they should leave a voicemail message with their contact information. The emergency manager is interested in any property loss, houses, trailers, vehicles, sheds, et cetera. Fort Collins, CO – Winds are expected to increase today as crews continue to construct and secure fire lines along the perimeter of the fire. A Red Flag warning has not been posted for the burn area, though lower relative humidity and warmer temperatures are expected.   The Larimer County Sheriff's Office issued emergency phone notifications to residents in the Crystal Fire area this morning notifying them that the existing roadblocks will be lifted at noon today. 4:30 p.m. Firefighters made good progress on the Crystal Fire today, due to reduced winds, snow and rainfall within the fire area. Fire size remains at approximately 3,200 acres and it is anticipated the fire will be 60% contained by later this evening. No air resources have been working the fire today due to low cloud levels. Evacuation Area Open to Residents at 10:00 a.m.

Date:        April 6, 2011 Residents that left their homes last night as part of the precautionary evacuation will be allowed to return to their homes this morning at 10:00 a.m.  Deputies will reopen the roads to residents only beginning at 10:00 a.m.  The current roadblocks will continue to operate for the foreseeable future.
