The Berthoud Community Library will be hosting its second "Paws to Read" this Monday February 27 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. This program is sponsored by Paws for Responsibility, a Colorado non-profit organization. Screened, trained and registered therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers offer opportunities for children grades 1-5 to improve reading skills. Despite the chill that closed the Berthoud Community Library Monday December 19, participants enjoyed the Polar Express party that featured a reading of the Caldecott award winning book by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa made a special appearance and brought a unique kind of cheer to the event with a game of "Santa says".
Calling all Kids. It is time again for the Berthoud Main Street’s annual Scarecrow Contest. The judging will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 4 pm at the Berthoud Oktoberfest. To the Editor: I would like to thank Berthoud Community Library patrons for their generosity in donating food for the Berthoud House of Neighborly Service as part of our adult summer reading program. Since May 23, you have donated 213 pounds of food. Summer tends to be a time when food banks experience fewer donations, so two years ago the library added, “Bring a Food Donation” to the summer program bingo card in order to help another important community ...
