Harry Bernhardt July 4, 1920 – September 19, 2010 Harry Bernhardt, 90, of Berthoud, died September 19, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital. He was born July 4, 1920 in Loveland to John and Ann Marie (Bath) Bernhardt. He was raised in Loveland and attended Loveland schools. Harry married Helen “Irene” Hopp on December 2, 1938 in Brighton. Virginia (Ginny) Marie Stokes, 86, of Loveland died September 9, 2010. Ginny was born October 1, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gottfried and Molly (Salzman) Bauer. She spent her youth in Lincoln attending Lincoln High. In September of 1942 she married the love of her life, Maynard Stokes. Beginning June 7 the new FLEX bus service will link Berthoud with Fort Collins, Loveland and the Longmont Regional Transportation District’s (RTD) bus connections to downtown Denver and Boulder. During weekday peak commuting hours in the morning and evening, an express route will serve primary stops between Fort Collins and Longmont, including a stop in Berthoud. Connie J. Golightly, 59, of Berthoud passed away April 28, 2010 at McKee Medical Center. She fought a brave and courageous fight with lung cancer but other complications ended her almost three-year battle. She was born May 11, 1950 in Longmont, Colorado to Eugene and Naomi Maxine (George) Howell. She attended Lakewood High School for one year, but graduated from Poudre High School in Fort Collins. It is a Northern Conference Championship Game for

Broomfield and Longmont both won their brackets on Wednesday evening. Broomfield had an easy time with Conifer, winning 59-32. Meanwhile, in a low scoring game, the Longmont girls defeated Cheyenne Mountain  by 9 points, 49-40. They will play the finals on Friday. With Longmont still in the final four for tonight's boys semifinals, Longmont could have two champion basketball teams.

Update on State High School Basketball Tournament

Girls Basketball The Northern Conference is well represented with Half the teams in the Final 4 of the girls basketball. The Broomfield five elimainated Pueblo East 57-41 while Conifer ended Pueblo South's bid 59-46. in the other bracket, Longmont, starting as the 4th seed, bested Cheyenne Mountain 64-54 while Mullen won 64-55 over Mesa Ridge. Like the boys team, the Berthoud girls basketball team did not make much headway against the highly ranked Lady Trojans. The Spartans were held to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters.
