  by Julee Graham Premier Gymnastics of Loveland hosted the season opener, “Premier Ice Breaker”, meet this past weekend, September 8 and 9, 2012. Premier’s Level 4 team placed 3rd and Level 6 team placed 1st in team results. Level 4: All-Around: In the Child Division- Niama Contreras placed 1st with a score of 34.700.   Mary was welcomed home to Heaven with open arms on August 10, 2012. She was born November 2, 1913 in Berthoud, Colorado to John and Margaret Sterkel Krieger. Mary grew up on a farm west of Berthoud and attended school in Berthoud. On December 2, 1934 she married William Kaiser at the First Congregational Church of Loveland.   Carolina Sell, 92, of Loveland, CO, died on July 21, 2012 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Loveland. She was born on December 4, 1919 in Windsor, Colorado, to Jacob and Mary (Kindsfather) Hill. In her early years, Carolina worked as a nanny for the owners of Denver Botanical Gardens. She married David Sell on March 16, 1941 in Loveland. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1992. Carolina worked as a cook at the Wayside Inn in Berthoud for 25 years, retiring in the early ...   Gwen Hawley passed away July 1, 2012 at McKee Medical Center - Loveland, Colorado. She was born June 11, 1926 in Orofino, Idaho to Dr. Richard and Gladys (Moore) Hopkins. She was the second of two children with an older brother Dick Hopkins. The quenching of her lifelong thirst for knowledge began in the public elementary school system of Orofino, Idaho continuing through her freshman year of high school. Obituary: Marjorie Tysdal

  Marjorie (Marge) Tysdal of Berthoud passed away at home surrounded by family on June 23, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Marge was born on April 20, 1922 at her family home in Eagle Grove, Iowa and graduated from high school in 1940. She met the love of her life, Tony Tysdal, and they were married in Hampton, Iowa on March 23, 1944. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. Marge and Tony had two children, Gary and Marsha. Thompson Education Foundation names new executive director

Kim Akeley-Charron has been named executive director of the Thompson Education Foundation beginning July 1. She is currently the marketing coordinator for the City of Loveland’s Cultural Services Department, where she has worked since 2003 in various capacities. Prior to that, she worked at the University of Denver Women’s College as the student services and special events coordinator, the Greenway Foundation and the Museum of Nature and Science, all in Denver.         Students and youth with special needs from Loveland, Berthoud and Fort Collins would like to say a huge, "Thank you" to all of the individuals and businesses who donated to this years Adapted Recreation Activities program. A portion of the money was used to give thirty-seven kids full scholarships to ski at the National sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park.   Dorothy Jean Sterkel, 81, of Loveland died on May 20, 2012 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. She was born on November 11, 1930 in Berthoud to John and Alice (Schriner) Schleuger. She married Samuel Edward Sterkel on September 5, 1948 in Loveland.
