General Information/Announcements Firefighters continue to make good progress on containment of the Reservoir Road fire. The Incident Management Team will be evaluating the results of today’s suppression efforts and assessing conditions for allowing residents back into their homes. Reservoir Road Fire now 35% contained
At 8 p.m. the last of the evacuees who had been escorted into their homes were back out of the fire area. More entries might be made tomorrow. Residents should check in at the Bison Center. Later tonight we will have a report from P.J. DiPentino on his trip into the area. A GPS remapping of the area has reduced the number of acres in the fire area to 710 with the fire 35 percent contained. Obituary: Virginia Marie Stokes
Virginia (Ginny) Marie Stokes, 86, of Loveland died September 9, 2010. Ginny was born October 1, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gottfried and Molly (Salzman) Bauer. She spent her youth in Lincoln attending Lincoln High. In September of 1942 she married the love of her life, Maynard Stokes. In 1958 she and Maynard moved to Colorado with their two sons, Roland and Arlen. After initially moving to Boulder they lived in Longmont, rural area west of Berthoud, and finally in ... Full Story
Some access for evacuees of Reservoir Road Fire
Noon: Beginning at 3 p.m. today the sheriff's department will escort groups of 10 to 12 vehicles into the area. The residents will be give 30 minutes to gather belongings and tend to their property and then will be escorted out. The escorted trips will continue until 7 p.m., conditions permitting. Reservoir Road Fire: Afternoon, Sept 13
Fire caused by resident burning leaves and twigs Chief Merlin Green of the Loveland Fire Department began Monday afternoon's press conference by saying the fire has covered 900 acres and is 20 percent contained. The fire, while not as active as yesterday, is still quite active. The most active area of the fire is moving to the west-northwest. Reservoir Road Fire: Sept 13 update
A smoky pall lay over the foothills and the Thompson Valley this morning as an overnight inversion layer kept the smoke from the Reservoir Road Fire close to the ground. The wild land fire between Flatiron Reservoir and Pinewood Reservoir west of Loveland has officially been named the Reservoir Road Fire. Initial response was by Loveland Fire Department with assist from Big Thompson Volunteer Fire, Loveland Rural, Berthoud Fire, Union Colony, Windsor Severance, Poudre Fire Authority, Larimer County Sheriff, US Forest Service, Lyons Fire, Hygiene Fire, Estes Park Fire, Wellington Fire, Glen Haven and Pinewood Springs. Major wild land fire at Flatiron Reservoir
A smoke plum visible from along the front range marks the location of a major wild land fire just west of Flatiron Reservoir west of Loveland. The location of the fire at noon on Sunday was bounded by Pole Hill Road (West County Road 18E), Chimney Hollow Road and an unnamed road on the west side of the reservoir. Southbound Madison in Loveland to reopen Wednesday
The third westbound lane Eisenhower Boulevard at Madison Avenue. —closed since July 6-- reopened yesterday. Early next Wednesday morning, the entire southbound Madison portion of the continuous flow intersection at Eisenhower will debut.
