Virginia (Ginny) Marie Stokes, 86, of Loveland died September 9, 2010. Ginny was born October 1, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gottfried and Molly (Salzman) Bauer. She spent her youth in Lincoln attending Lincoln High. In September of 1942 she married the love of her life, Maynard Stokes. In 1958 she and Maynard moved to Colorado with their two sons, Roland and Arlen. After initially moving to Boulder they lived in Longmont, rural area west of Berthoud, and finally in Loveland.   Fire caused by resident burning leaves and twigs Chief Merlin Green of the Loveland Fire Department began Monday afternoon's press conference by saying the fire has covered 900 acres and is 20 percent contained. The fire, while not as active as yesterday, is still quite active. The most active area of the fire is moving to the west-northwest. Daniel Skeen Reports on French-speaking Missionary Service in Canada Daniel Skeen, a graduate of Berthoud High School has completed a two-year missionary assignment in Canada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Skeen served in the Canada French Speaking Montreal Mission. The Loveland Citizens' Finance Advisory Commission submitted their report on the proposed ballot issues at Tuesday's council meeting. The commission is appointed by the Loveland City Council to participate in a review of the budget, evaluate all financial policies and report its findings to the council. The nine member commission delivered a comprehensive report on the effects of the ballot initiatives, Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101. The report, though designed for Loveland, is a ... Two of the grandest shows on earth are taking place in Loveland this weekend as artists from all over the world converge on the Sweetheart City. The Sculpture in the Park show is in its 27th year and features over 170 artists and 2,000 pieces of sculpture. Local soccer team takes the “Rushmore Cup”

The Club United Black soccer team from Thompson Soccer Association finished their season by winning the Rushmore Cup. The under 15-years of age team has players from Berthoud, Loveland, Windsor and Fort Collins, The team finished the Spring 2010 Season with a record of 5-3-1 earning fourth place in a field of 10 teams in its Colorado division.
