Obituary: Charles Leroy Winston

  Charles L. Winston, 85 of Berthoud, Colorado passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Paonia Care and Rehab Center in Paonia, Colorado, with his family by his side. Charles was born on August 4, 1926 to Roy L. and Flora E (Bender) Winston in Mission Creek Township, Kansas. The family moved to Berthoud in 1935 from Topeka, Kansas. Charles married Dorothy Moore, on May 29, 1948 in Raton, New Mexico, she passed away on Sept. 6, 1992. He later married Maxine Terven Hertha ... Full Story

  This year’s Loveland Historic Homes Tour takes place on Saturday, May 7; from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The annual tour organized by the Loveland Historical Society features three homes, a church, a downtown commercial building and a public building. The oldest structure on the tour is the Bonnell Building on Fourth Street in downtown Loveland. Benton Bonnell built this structure some time between 1887 and 1890 to house his mercantile store. Doris McKanna Houchin, 90, of Las Vegas, passed away May 14, 2010, at Prestige Assisted Living in Henderson. Doris was born in Berthoud, Colo., Dec. 19, 1919, to the late Linn E. and Rhoda McKanna. Doris was a welder at Rocky Mountain National Arsenal during World War II. She retired from the City of North Las Vegas in 1980, as payroll clerk and was a member of the Eastern Star and a charter member of Sunrise Mountain United Methodist Church, in Las Vegas.
