Obituary: Richard “Rick” McCaffrey
Richard "Rick" McCaffrey born October 21, 1952 to Richard and Irma McCaffrey in Edinburgh, Scotland, died at the age of 62 on October 17, 2015. Rick grew up as an Air Force child and lived all over the U.S. and Europe before settling in Berthoud. He is survived by wife Janet; daughters Heather and Balina; grandson Leeland; mother Irma McCaffrey; grandmother Rosalee Cates; brother Pat McCaffrey; and sisters Joann Biros and Diane Kirchgesler. Pan Am Flight 103 explodes over Scotland On this day in 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 from London to New York explodes in midair over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew members aboard, as well as 11 Lockerbie residents on the ground. A bomb hidden inside an audio cassette player detonated in the cargo area when the plane was at an altitude of 31,000 feet.
