What started as a drunk driver pursuit by the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) has ended up as a standoff on the northeast edge of Berthoud. According to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office the CSP was attempting to stop a motor home that had been called in as a Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately  (REDDI) report. Crystal Fire 100% Contained April 11, 2011   The Crystal Fire is now 100% contained and is considered at full suppression with perimeter control.  This applies to both the main area of the fire as well as the area in Redstone Canyon.  Units continued to mop up today while others patrolled the fire and continued work on the fire line.  Crews will continue mop up operations tomorrow, continuing suppression repair and reinforcement of control lines. Public Asked to Stay Away from Crystal Fire Date:        April 8, 2011 The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public to stay away from the Crystal Fire burn area. With the exception of Buckhorn Road and Stove Prairie Road, many of the roads in that area are private roads and people who do not live in the area will be cited for trespassing. Crystal Fire Residents with Property Loss Urged to Call

Residents in the Crystal Fire area who lost property are asked to call Larimer County Emergency Manager Erik Nilsson to report their loss.  The number is 970-498-5310.  If the number is busy or there is no answer, they should leave a voicemail message with their contact information. The emergency manager is interested in any property loss, houses, trailers, vehicles, sheds, et cetera. Crystal Fire: April 7 – Road Blocks lifted at noon

  The Larimer County Sheriff's Office issued emergency phone notifications to residents in the Crystal Fire area this morning notifying them that the existing roadblocks will be lifted at noon today. The Sheriff is requesting that everyone limit unnecessary traffic in the area as the roads are slippery and there is still a great deal of heavy emergency equipment on the roads along with movement of the firefighters.  The public is reminded that many roads in that area are private roads ... Evacuation Area Open to Residents at 10:00 a.m.

Date:        April 6, 2011 Residents that left their homes last night as part of the precautionary evacuation will be allowed to return to their homes this morning at 10:00 a.m.  Deputies will reopen the roads to residents only beginning at 10:00 a.m.  The current roadblocks will continue to operate for the foreseeable future. Date:   April 5, 2011 At approximately 6:25 p.m. this evening, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office issued a telephone notification to residents along Moondance Way, Red Tail Ridge Way and Stringtown Gulch Road to evacuate the area.   In addition, residents along Lightning Ridge Way, Ohana Way, Deer Path St. and the lower portion of Wildsong Rd. have been contacted to evacuate. Crystal Fire Community Meeting Scheduled

April 3,  1:45 p.m. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office will host a community meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Big Thompson Elementary School at 7702 West Highway 34 to update evacuated residents on the status of the fire and the evacuations.  We anticipate having some preliminary damage assessments to discuss at that meeting.  Representatives from the American Red Cross and United Way will also be on hand to provide information and assistance. Crystal Fire blows up to 2,000 acres

Shortly after midnight the Larimer County Emergency Information Center announced that the Crystal Fire has blown up with sustained 50 mph winds and evacuations had been ordered. At that time the fire was estimated at 800 to 1100 acres with no containment.
