Philo Grommon, a freshman of Johnstown Colorado became victim of a violent physical assault that would forever change his life and lives’ of those that love him dearly. On December 1st 2010, Philo was unexpectedly attacked by another student while attending his local high school. During the attack he endured a severe blow to the head causing a traumatic brain injury. The Loveland Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a “Knight of Caring and Sharing” to benefit Edelwina and Steven Leschinsky of the Johnstown Parish Community. The Second Annual Berthoud Bash drew 270 people, a 15 percent increase over last year. The committees are still counting the money, but it looks like proceeds will top $70,000. That will certainly help the members of the Berthoud Schools Fund advance their goal of creating 21st century classrooms in the Kindergarten through 8th grade and bringing document cameras and a progress toward student laptop computers in the high school. The Berthoud Bash is the creation of the Berthoud Schools Fund, which operates under the umbrella of theThompson Education Foundation.
