Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident activity for March 2013 Friday, March 1 BFPD responded to a report of carbon monoxide in a resident on Meining Road. The crew did not find any levels of carbon monoxide in the home. Larimer County Sheriff Officer also responded due to the frequency of calls. Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident activity for September 2012 Sunday, September 2 BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on County Road 13 and 42nd St. SW. This was a two-vehicle accident with heavy damage to one of the vehicles, minor damage to the other. There were no reported injuries.   Small steps can make positive changes.  Is is time to change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Tragically, home fires kill 500 children ages 14 and under each year. In the U.S., almost two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes without working smoke alarms.
