Lady Spartans Place Sixth in Mountain View League Meet By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer It was on a cool, cloudy and at times rainy Loveland Olde Course on Wednesday afternoon where the Berthoud High girls golf team competed in their second tournament of the season. As a team, the Lady Spartans finished in sixth place in the six team tournament. SALT LAKE CITY - Air Force baseball was held to three hits in a 2-1 loss at Utah in Mountain West Conference action Saturday afternoon at Spring Mobile Ballpark. The Falcons dropped to 11-14, 0-2 on the season while the Utes improved to 10-9, 4-1. Sophomore right-hander Sean Carley (2-3) turned in his second complete game of the year in the tough-luck loss. SALT LAKE CITY - A botched pickoff throw helped lead to Air Force baseball’s 5-3 loss at Utah in its Mountain West Conference opener Friday night at Spring Mobile Ballpark.   GOLFERS TIE FOR SEVENTH AT BARONA COLLEGIATE CUP SAN DIEGO — The University of Colorado men’s golf team could have gone out there in the rain and wind Friday and tanked things after a disappointing opening two rounds here in the Barona Collegiate Cup. WICHITA, Kan. - Air Force baseball dropped a 6-0 contest at #24 Wichita State Wednesday afternoon at Eck Stadium. The loss dropped the Falcons to 11-12 on the season, while the Shockers improved to 15-6. Five Wichita State pitchers combined to shutout the Falcons, scattering eight hits. Lady Spartans Compete at Skyline Invitational By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The Berthoud High school girls golf team kicked off their 2011 season on Monday morning at the Twin Peaks Golf Course in Longmont. The Lady Spartans finished with a team score of 339 strokes, good enough for only 20th place in the 23-team Skyline Invite. WICHITA, Kan. - Air Force baseball dropped a 10-2 contest at #24 Wichita State Tuesday night at Eck Stadium. The loss snapped the Falcons’ four-game winning streak and dropped the team to 11-11 on the season, while the Shockers improved to 14-6.
