Senior Citizen Tax Work-Off
The Thompson School District is accepting applications for the 2011-2012 Senior Citizen Property Tax Work-Off Program. Eligibility requirements for the program are: Applicants must be 62 years of age or older. Applicants must own and live in the home for which they are applying. Help Kids Succeed with school supplies!
The annual community Help Kids Succeed school supply drive is under way for students in need. This year, the drive will provide 1,300 backpacks filled with supplies to students in the Thompson School District. This is an all-out community effort that involves donations from individuals, organizations, churches and businesses. Teacher Appreciation night at BOE meeting
It is teacher appreciation week in the Thompson School District and it was Teacher Appreciation night at the Thompson Board of Education meeting on Wednesday night. This recognition for teachers comes from students and plays to a packed house at the district headquarters. Spotlight on bullying in Berthoud
Following the suicide of a Turner Middle School eighth-grader in March there has been a great deal of talk about bullying in the Berthoud Schools. Tuesday saw two separate events about bullying. Many definitions of bullying were expressed at these meetings, but the basic tenets were the same. Bullying is repetitive, persistent abusive behavior with the purpose of causing physical or mental harm. It revolves around an imbalance of power and may involve verbal harassment or physical ... By Claudia Todd-Young Berthoud will not be hosting a 9Health Fair this year but surrounding communities will be available to serve the local residents who want to participate in the many free and low-charge services that have been provided in Berthoud for over 20 years. The decision not to host the 9Health Fair this year was a difficult decision to make and had to do only with the lack of volunteers. Tragedy in Berthoud
Slightly less that a year after the death of Alex Sabados, Turner Middle School students face yet another tragedy. The Sheriffs Department said that they were called to rural Berthoud on Friday morning to the scene of an unattended death.
