  Darrell “Beaner” Baumer, 83, of Berthoud died July 31, 2014 at the Aspen House in Loveland. He was born August 28, 1930 in Stetsonville, Wisconsin to George and Ella Baumer. In August of 1956 he married Janice Mae Thurston in Hancock, Wisconsin. Darrell and Jan moved to Berthoud in 1982 where Darrell worked for the Berthoud National Bank.   Pauline Sterkel, 102, formerly of Berthoud, died April 26 at the Wakefield Care Center in Nebraska. She was born August 29, 1911, in Norka, Russia, to John and Elizabeth Rothermel Kaiser. At the age of 2, she came to the United States with her parents. She married Henry Sterkel on November 25, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1992. Chris was a 1990 graduate of Berthoud High School and a 1997 graduate of UNC. He was a Shelter Insurance Agent in Loveland since 2008. Chris's priority in life and best friend was his son Alexander.
