Turner girls take 3 out of 4 games against Fort Lupton

8th Grade Varsity  wins 47 to 20

8th Grade JV wins  33 to 13  (Photos)

7th Grade JV loses 12 to 17

The Turner Middle School girl Dragons faced of against the Fort Lupton Blue Devils on Thursday afternoon and came away victorious in three of the four games.

The Eighth-grade teams had a pretty easy time of it. The Junior Varsity led 13 to 7 at the half and it was never close after that. With balanced scoring, the JV continued to widen their lead, outscoring their opponents 12 to 2 in the third quarter and finishing up with a final score of 33 to 13.

The Eighth grade varsity also dominated in their game, winning 47 to 20.

The Seventh grade games were an entirely different story. The Seventh grade JV team lost 12 to 17 and the varsity struggled most of the game.

The varsity Blue Devils jumped off to an 8 to 3 lead in the first quarter. Audrey Kouns three second period field goals in 40 seconds of play kept the Dragons hopes alive.  Fort Lupton managed to hold the lead until 3 minutes remained in the game when the Dragons tied the score at 20. Fort Lupton regained the lead with a free throw, but that was to be their last score as the Turner girls scored 6 unanswered points in the final two minutes of the game to win 26-21.

Coach David Hunn was pleased with the way the girls came from behind to win and said, “They are starting to get over their emotions and start playing basketball like we want them to.
