Vehicle Break-Ins at Trailhead

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving an increasing number of reports of vehicles parked at the Lion Gulch Trailhead parking lot being forcibly entered and items stolen by unknown individuals.  Stolen items include firearms, computers, iPods and wallets.

LCSO deputies are looking for two, possibly suspicious, vehicles that were reportedly seen in the area.  One is a Ford Escort, or similar vehicle, white in color with blue window tinting.  The second vehicle is a silver or grey Ford sedan, model unknown.

The Lion Gulch Trailhead is located approximately eight miles south of Estes Park on Highway 36 between Estes Park and Pinewood Springs.   The LCSO Crime Prevention Unit reminds citizens to always lock up and to secure valuables out of sight, or leave them at home, especially when parking in remote areas.  Also, remain aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious individuals or vehicles in the area.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 970-416-1985 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868 where you will remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward.
