Weld County organization has resources for senior citizens

Senior Resource Services Offers Valuable Programs for Weld County Senior Citizens

Senior Resource Services, a non-profit organization located in Greeley, CO, offers many valuable programs for Weld County Senior Citizens.  Founded in 2007 by DeeAnn Groves, the mission of Senior Resource Services is to help the elderly and their families in addressing the issues of aging.  Senior Resource Services strives to assist the elderly in remaining independent in the least restrictive environment for as long as possible.  All of the programs offered through Senior Resource Services are provided at no charge to individuals or their families.

Among the programs offered are:

  • Person 2 Person – Designed to be a lifeline for seniors or caregivers, this is Senior Resource Services newest program.  Volunteers are paired with an individual to offer emotional and practical support through regularly scheduled telephone calls.
  • Special Friend Program – A volunteer provides companionship and transportation to medical and dental appointments, grocery shopping, senior centers, and special events for those seniors in need.
  • Caregiver Time Out Program –  Caregivers receive a two-hour break per week while a trained volunteer cares for their loved one.
  • Information and Referral – Information about various programs, resources, and services for seniors is available.

In order to fulfill its mission at no cost to seniors, Senior Resource Services relies on volunteers.  Volunteers are needed to provide transportation, companionship and telephone calls for our senior clients.  There is no set time commitment or schedule.  Volunteers provide services as their personal schedule allows.  This support assists the elderly in maintaining their independence.

Senior Resource Services also invites you to join us for our Grandparent’s Day event.  Please bring your family to Sanborn Park in Greeley at 2 pm on Grandparent’s Day, September 11, 2011 for our intergenerational event.  There will be free ice cream and cake and lots of activities for the young and old.

For more information about services offered or to volunteer, please contact Senior Resource Services at (970) 352-9348 or visit
