2011 Scouting for Food

Scout Food Drive

February 26, 2011

[3]It is time for the annual Scouting for Food drive. In Southern Larimer County the food collected goes to the House of Neighborly Service for distribution to families in our area.

Local Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts  will be in Berthoud neighborhoods to collect food for local families in need on Saturday February 26.

Please fill a bag with any canned or non-perishable foods that you would like to contribute and leave it on your front porch before 8:30 a.m.  Saturday.

Scouts will be by early Saturday morning to pick up donations and take them to the House of Neighborly Service for distribution for needy families and individuals in our community.  If they  happen to miss your house, please bring your donations to the First Presbyterian Church in Berthoud between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Suggested items to donate: canned beans, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, tuna, peanut butter, cereal, pasta, rice, mac & cheese, baking mixes; also, personal care items such as shampoo, toothpaste, razors, deodorant, tissues, etc. are welcome!

To help you determine the most nutritious food to purchase for Scouting for Food, one scout group came up with the “Perfect Bag”

Here is what they suggested:

DRIVE SAFE AND SLOW, SCOUTS ARE ON THE GO

With dozens of Scouting for Food participants canvassing neighborhoods, both Scouts and drivers alike are reminded to exercise caution. Motorists should be careful when backing out of driveways and reduce speeds by 5 to 10 miles per hour while traveling in subdivisions.

Thank You from the Berthoud Scouts.
