Incident Summary, April 2011
Saturday, April 2
BFPD responded to a commercial structure fire alarm at 1328 N First Street. The alarm turned out to be a false alarm.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on I-25 at MM 252. Units were cancelled en route by Loveland Fire, as there was enough manpower already on scene.
BFPD responded to a possible dive rescue at 1300 N County Road 17. A boat had gone astray in the lake with no passengers. The owners were on the shore and safe.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at MM 250. The Crew checked for injuries and hazards and cleared the scene.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 855 Franklin Avenue. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a grass fire call at 2123 N First Street. The crews found that mulch piles were on fire [2]. Crews extinguished the fire and cleared the scene.
BFPD responded to a medical call 831 Franklin Avenue. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a medical in the 5000 block of South Iowa Avenue in Loveland. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS.
Monday, April 4
BFPD responded to a vehicle fire on I-25. The crews talked with the driver of the vehicle. His brakes had locked but there was no fire present.
Thursday, April 7
BFPD responded to a medical call at 855 Franklin Avenue to assist TVEMS with lifting a patient.
BFPD responded to reports of a bonfire at 2407 South Horseshoe Circle. A small rubbish fire was being attended to. The attendee was notified of the current Larimer County burn restrictions.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 1100 Shelby Drive for a diabetic patient having seizures. The patient was in good condition when the crew arrived and refused transport.
Friday, April 8
BFPD responded to a grass fire at 437 N Hwy 287. They found a ditch burn in progress. The person conducting the burn was unaware of the current fire restrictions. The fire was extinguished.
Sunday, April 10
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25. The call was cancelled while the equipment was en-route
BFPD responded to a medical request for a patient complaining of chest pain at 20975 Weld County Road 3. BFPD assisted TVEMS and the patient was transported.
BFPD was en-route to Loveland for a mutual aid grass fire request at 1100 Bomar Avenue when the request for assistance was cancelled.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 20116 Weld County Road 3 for a three-bicycle crash. All three parties were transported.
BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm at 315 Iowa Avenue. Crews were notified while en-route that it was a false alarm.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 1261 Cedar Drive. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a medical request for a patient complaining of abdominal pain at 906 Fifth Street. The patient was transported.
Monday, April 11
BFPD responded to a medical call for a patient complaining of chest pain at 850 Spartan Avenue. After checking vital signs, BFPD personnel transferred patient care to TVEMS.
Wednesday, April 13
BFPD responded to a medical call at 1704 Riverview Drive. Berthoud Fire had no patient contact and was cleared from the scene.
Thursday, April 14
BFPD responded to a medical call at 855 Franklin Avenue for a sick patient. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to standby for a police matter at E County Road 12 and First Street for an individual who would not exit the vehicle during a traffic stop made by Colorado State Patrol. Upon exiting, the individual was taken into custody by CSP.
Friday, April 15
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at MM 248. The parties were checked for injuries.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at MM 252. Thompson Valley EMS was already on scene and cleared the Fire Department, as there were no hazards or major injuries.
BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm at 618 S Ninth Street. A smoke detector was found activated, but with no fire. Crews turned off the detector and cleared the scene.
Saturday, April 16
BFPD responded to a possible bonfire at 750 E Highway 56. A reasonable sized, contained “bonfire” was found and the crew cleared the scene.
BFPD responded to a citizen assist at the Berthoud Area Community Center, 248 Welch Avenue, to secure the building after use.
Sunday, April 17
BFPD responded to a request by the Larimer County Sheriff’s office to extinguish a small bonfire at 1432 First Street. Crews stood by until a Sheriff’s Deputy arrived and BFPD cleared from the scene.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at MM 250. Crews removed the hazards caused by the accident, controlled traffic and then cleared from the scene.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 1400 Fourth Street for a patient complaining of chest pain. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS and then cleared the scene.
BFPD responded to a medical cal at 275 Mountain Avenue for a patient who complained of glass in his eye. Thompson Valley EMS assisted the individual and the scene was cleared.
BFPD responded to a medical at 420 McColm Street. Crews checked the scene along with Thompson Valley EMS and waited for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office to arrive to take over the incident.
Wednesday, April 20
BFPD taught a Snap and Strap Class to 27 third graders at Ivy Stockwell Elementary. Students were taught the importance of wearing helmets during sporting activities, riding bikes, roller-blading, riding a scooter and riding skateboards.
BFPD responded to an outside odor investigation at 18519 Weld County Road 3. The odor was coming from a well and the well was also making an odd noise. The operators of the well were contacted and they checked the well and stated it was operating fine and the noise was possibly from a relief valve.
Friday, April 22
BFPD responded to a medical at 2500 Blue Mountain Avenue. Berthoud Fire assisted the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and was then cleared from the scene.
Sunday, April 24
BFPD responded to a medical at 412 Indiana Avenue. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
Monday, April 25
BFPD was made aware of a plume of smoke sited near the Moss Rock Road area. Crews made contact with our dispatch center and were informed of two controlled burns in that area. Based upon the information, the crews were able to clear the incident.
Tuesday, April 26
BFPD responded to a medical call at 539 S Ninth Street. Berthoud Fire assisted Thompson Valley EMS with medical care.
BFPD responded to a structure fire alarm at 401 10th Street. No smoke was visible when crews arrived. The crews were advised that some food had burned and it caused the smoke detector to go off.
Wednesday, April 27
BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm at 800 Gateway Park Lane. Crews were advised that a fire alarm kept going off. The crew replaced the batteries in the alarm and checked the building.
BFPD taught a “Strap and Snap” bicycle safety program at Ivy Stockwell Elementary School. The students were taught about the importance of bicycle helmets as well as helmets for sports activities, scooters, skateboards, roller blades, and motorized vehicles such as motorcycles and ATV’s.
Thursday, April 28
BFPD responded to a medical call at 733 Seventh Street. Thompson Valley EMS arrived on scene and took over patient care.
BFPD responded to a power pole on fire at Weld County Road 3 and East Highway 60. On arrival, crews found that the pole had been on fire but the fire was now extinguished. An individual had been ditch burning in the area but had extinguished the fire with a water tank on his tractor.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 801 Marshall Place. After Thompson Valley EMS arrived, crews were no longer needed and cleared the scene.
BFPD responded to a report of a bonfire at 565 N First Street. The individual was notified that this was not allowed and the resident extinguished the fire.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries on I-25 MM 252. Nothing was found so crews cleared from the scene.
BFPD responded mutual aid call for Loveland Fire at I-25 MM 254 for hay bales on fire. Loveland arrived first and was able to cancel the response for Berthoud Fire.
Friday, April 29
BFPD responded to a medical call at 855 Franklin Avenue. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a grass fire at W County Road 14 and Lonetree Drive. Loveland Fire arrived on scene and canceled Berthoud Fire’s response.
BFPD responded to a medical call on I-25 MM 251. When the arrived, Thompson Valley EMS was on scene and had things under control. Berthoud Fire had no patient contact.
Saturday, April 30
BFPD responded to a medical call at 855 Franklin Avenue. Thompson Valley EMS was already on scene and Berthoud Fire had no patient contact.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 205 Second Street. Thompson Valley EMS was on scene and had things under control.
BFPD responded to reports of a bonfire at 3400 Lela Road. A large fire was found with no water available in case of an emergency. Crews assisted with extinguishing the fire and the parties were notified they needed to minimize the size of their fire.
BFPD conducted a scheduled public education assignment at the Berthoud High School’s after prom party event from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
BFPD responded to an alarm activation at 850 Spartan Avenue during the after prom party. The activation was thought to be caused by the fog machines. Crews reset the alarm panel.
