Incident activity for June 2010
Tuesday, June 1
BFPD responded to a report of power lines down on Sixth Street and Welch Avenue. This was a phone line down and Qwest was notified for repairs.
BFPD responded to a bicyclist hit on Taft Avenue. The patient was transported.
Thursday, June 3
BFPD responded to a fatal vehicle accident on East Highway 56. This was a two-vehicle accident involving a concrete mixing truck and a pickup truck. The driver of the concrete truck was uninjured.
Friday, June 4
BFPD assisted with a medical call for chest and shoulder pain on West County Road 4. The patient was transported.
Saturday, June 5
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 @ mile marker 249. There were two vehicles and a motorcyclist involved in the accident. The damage to the vehicles was minor; the motorcyclist was injured and transported.
BFPD Dive Team assisted Loveland Fire Dive Team with a swift water accident along North County Road 29 . The team assisted Loveland with searching the canal. The body was located about eight miles downstream.
Sunday, June 6
BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on Spartan Avenue. After investigation this was determined to be a false alarm.
BFPD responded to the 3800 block of West County Road 2 for a medical call. A female patient had injured her leg and was transported.
BFPD responded to a medical call on West County Road 8E. The patient care was transferred to TVEMS upon their arrival.
Monday, June 7
BFPD assisted with a medical call on Cheyenne Drive for a patient having difficulty breathing and experiencing chest pain. The crew assisted with transporting the patient.
Tuesday, June 8
BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire in the Legacy Heights area. An irrigation ditch had been burned and a tree was still smoldering. The crew removed the bark of the tree and extinguished the exposure.
Wednesday, June 9
BFPD assisted with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center for a patient that was breathing but unconscious due to a seizure. The patient was transported.
Thursday, June 10
BFPD responded to Hubble Street for a patient who had been injured in a fall. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to reports of a cut gas line in the area of Second Street and Mountain Avenue. A small 5/8” gas line serving 121 Mountain Avenue had been cut by a construction company working on First Street and Mountain Avenue. Xcel Energy was notified and the area was blocked to traffic until Xcel responded to repair the leak.
Friday, June 11
BFPD assisted with a medical call on East Nebraska Avenue. The patient was transported.
Sunday, June 13
BFPD responded to a report of an explosive agent found in the area of Hollyberry Drive and Chokeberry Drive. Every home within 500 meters of the explosive agent was asked to evacuate the area. Northern Colorado Bomb Squad retrieved and disposed of the explosive substance. Click here for full story.
Tuesday, June 15
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Fourth Street for a patient complaining of chest pains. The patient was transported.
Wednesday, June 16
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for possible cardiac arrest on Turner Avenue. The patient was transported.
Thursday, June 17
BFPD responded to Interstate 25 northbound @ mile marker 251 for a reported motor vehicle accident. The vehicle only needed a tire repair.
Friday, June 18
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on W. County Road 2E and Highway 287. This was a two vehicle accident with moderate damage to the vehicle and minor damage to the other vehicle. There were no injuries.
BFPD responded to a grass/wildland fire on Interstate 25 @ mile marker 252. This resulted after a controlled burn and a few spots were still smoking.
Saturday, June 19
BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 287 and Highway 56. There was minor damage to the vehicles and no reported injuries.
BFPD responded to an animal rescue on Cabellero Street for a horse that had fallen into a ditch with its legs in the air and there was no room for the horse to roll over to get up. The fire crew dug out part of the ditch to allow the horse to stand up. The horse did not sustain any apparent injuries.
BFPD responded to a medical call for knee pain on Franklin Avenue. The patient was transported.
Sunday, June 20
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Weld County Road 3 and 46. One patient was injured and transported.
Monday, June 21
BFPD assisted with a medical call on Second Street for a person with a burned foot. The patient was transported.
Tuesday, June 22
BFPD responded to a medical call on Second Street for a patient with a broken leg. The crew assisted with transporting the patient.
Wednesday, June 23
BFPD responded to a gas line break on Mount Meeker Avenue. Excel Energy was notified that a line had been broken by a construction crew trenching a line.
BFPD assisted with a medical call on Greenwood Drive for a person having abdominal pain. The patient was transported.
Saturday, June 26
BFPD responded to an RV fire on Third Street and Welch Avenue. A moderate amount of smoke was coming from the engine compartment. The intersection of Third an Welch was blocked and the fire extinguished. The entire engine compartment was damaged and the cause is undetermined at this time.
Sunday, June 27
BFPD responded to Eighth Street and Mountain Avenue for a patient who had tripped on the sidewalk and was complaining of head pain and bleeding from the nose. The patient was transported.
Berthoud Police Department requested the fire crew and TVEMS assistance for a medical call on Highway 287 and County Road 4.
Monday, June 28
BFPD assisted Berthoud Police with a medical call on Highway 56 and Weld County Road 7.
BFPD responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 287 and County Road 8. An old school bus was found on the road with no smoke or fire showing. The fire originally in the engine compartment had been extinguished by a citizen passing by and the driver of the bus.
Wednesday, June 30
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on West County Road 8. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident on County Road 8 E and Schofield Road. Upon arrival, there was no incident found. The reporting party informed the crew of a truck and boat that had lost an inner tube which hit an oncoming car, sounding like a major crash. The vehicles had left the scene and there were no injuries reported.
