Incident Summary, May 2011
Sunday, May 1
BFPD responded to a medical call at 401 N County Road 27E for a patient complaining of chest pains. The patient was transported by Thompson Valley EMS.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 855 Franklin Avenue. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
Monday, May 2
BFPD responded to a possible out of control burn at 5417 Foothills Drive. Crews found a homeowner with a manageable sized burn pile and with water readily available. The fire was authorized and under control and the crew cleared the scene and the homeowner finished his burn.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 850 Spartan Avenue. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS in loading the patient into the ambulance.
Tuesday, May 3
BFPD responded to a medical call at 157 Mountain Avenue. Crews assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a grass fire on I-25 MM 250. Two 10×10 grass fires were found. The fire was extinguished by fire personnel.
Saturday, May 7
BFPD responded to a controlled (but no longer attended) ditch burn at N County Road 23 and W County Road 8. Several smoldering piles were found but were in the burnt out area. The crew further extinguished the hot areas and cleared the scene.
Monday, May 9
BFPD responded the Wayside Inn at 505 Mountain Avenue at the request of Berthoud Police. The police needed a ladder because juveniles had been seen on the roof. When crews arrived the children had gone.
BFPD responded to a controlled burn that had gotten out of control at 616 E County Road 4. When they arrived, the crew found about a half-acre fire in light fuel (grass) moving to the west, carried by the wind. Fire personnel extinguished the fire.
Tuesday, May 10
BFPD responded to a medical call at 850 Spartan Avenue. Berthoud Fire assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Highway 287 at MM 327. Berthoud Fire assisted law enforcement, checked the parties for injuries and checked the vehicle for any hazards.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at MM 250. Crews found a vehicle on the side of the road, unoccupied, with its hazard lights flashing. No one was present.
Wednesday, May 11
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287, South of Yellowstone Road. Two vehicles with heavy damage were found. One person was extricated from their vehicle and several people were taken to the hospital.
BFPD responded to a possible motor vehicle accident on SW 42nd Street and Highway 287. Neither Loveland Fire nor Berthoud Fire was able to find the reported accident.
BFPD responded to Longmont Fire Station #4 to fill in while Longmont was on scene of a call.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at First Street and Mountain Avenue. Berthoud Fire assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was taken to the hospital.
Thursday, May 12
BFPD responded to a smoke/odor investigation on Cougar Run Lane. The crew found an unauthorized burn in progress. They extinguished the small fire.
BFPD responded to an unknown problem at 5225 Wild Wing Drive. A medical alarm had activated but there was no emergency. Thompson Valley assisted the individual with their alarm system and Berthoud Fire cleared from the scene.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 628 Ninth Street. Berthoud Fire assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
Friday, May 13
BFPD responded to assist Loveland fire at a structure fire at 1906 Sauk Road. Read more at The Coloradeon [3] and the Loveland Reporter-Herald [4].
Saturday, May 14
BFPD responded to a medical call at 2407 South Horseshoe Circle. Berthoud Fire assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
Tuesday, May 17
BFPD responded to a potential grass fire at South County Road 17 and West County Road 4E. Several trees were found burning in a cultivated field. They posed no threat and were allowed to burn out.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at West County Road 6 and Sundown Drive. A pickup was found rolled onto its roof. The crew checked the scene for hazards. No one was injured in the accident.
Wednesday, May 19
BFPD responded to a structure fire at 755 Franklin Avenue. Crews found a small, unattached garage that had fire inside. Crews extinguished the blaze with assistance from Loveland Fire.
Thursday, May 20
BFPD was cancelled en route to assist Loveland Fire at a motor vehicle accident on I-25 MM 254.
Friday, May 21
BFPD responded to a request by law enforcement for assistance at 840 Douglas Place. When Thompson Valley EMS arrived, the fire crew was released.
BFPD responded to a medical call at West County Road 12 and Wild Wing Drive. The crew provided first aid for the patient and assisted Thompson Valley EMS with patient care. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a grass fire at 3013 Martingale Drive. The crew found a resident performing a controlled burn and he had a permit to do so. The crew helped the resident extinguish the fire due to developing high winds and then cleared the scene.
Saturday, May 22
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 MM 253. Berthoud Fire assisted Loveland Fire with extrication of the vehicle occupant and prepared the individual for transport by Thompson Valley EMS.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 MM 252. There had been a four car accident; however no one was seriously injured. All the individuals refused transport and were offered further assistance, but the offer was sincerely declined and Berthoud Fire cleared from the scene.
BFPD responded to power lines down/arcing at 919 South Third Street. The crew notified Excel Energy of the problem after checking the scene for hazards.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 101 SE Second Street. The crew tended the patient until Thompson Valley EMS arrived to take over patient care. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 416 Indiana Avenue. The crew assisted the individual until Thompson Valley EMS arrived and transported the patient.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on I-25 MM 254. Berthoud Fire assisted Thompson Valley EMS with loading an individual into the ambulance for transport. The crew remained on scene to assist Colorado State Patrol with traffic.
BFPD responded to a report of a small fire at Tenth Street and Bunyan Avenue. They found a small fire in a pit. The crew made sure that a water source was readily available in case it was needed.
BFPD responded to a medical call at 855 Franklin Avenue. The crew assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
Tuesday, May 24
BFPD responded to U.S. Highway 287 and County Road 8 for a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident, both vehicles having moderate to heavy damage. One patient was transported.
BFPD responded to U.S. Highway 287 and County Road 6 for a patient in a vehicle who was on the way to the hospital but needed assistance. The patient was transported.
Thursday, May 26
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at 2333 S. Highway 287. This was a fatal rollover accident involving the driver of the vehicle.
Friday, May 27
BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center and assisted TVEMS with a medical call.
Saturday, May 28
BFPD responded to a reported grass fire near a structure on Doyle Drive. The crew found a bonfire. The responsible party was advised of fire safety precautions for future burns.
Sunday, May 29
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on McColm for a 5 year old with possible head injuries. The patient was transported.
Tuesday, May 31
BFPD responded to a medical call at 833 Fourth Street. The crew assisted Thompson Valley EMS and the patient was transported.
