Incident Activity

 

Sunday, April 1

Berthoud Fire responded to a grass fire in the block of 115th Street and Ish Reservoir. The crew found a fallen cottonwood tree on fire. The property owner came out and stated he lit the fire so he could place piping in the ground. He was informed that he was not authorized to burn anything greater than 3” in diameter and the fire had to be attended. The cottonwood was 5’ to 6’ in diameter. E-16 crew quickly extinguished the fire. Dispatch was notified that the tree was going to continue to smolder through the night. The homeowner was asked to keep an eye on the fire and to call if anything changes.

BFPD responded to the 1100 block of Jefferson Drive for a medical assist. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 1600 block of Hollyberry Street for a person with chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

 

Incident Activity April 2-8

Monday, April 2

Berthoud Fire responded to Hwy 56 for a motor fuel spill. Engine 1 cleared up the fuel spill and assisted with traffic control.

Citizen assist at Station 1 for a car seat install. The staff gave the woman information regarding different seats suitable for her child. Also, the Technician made sure she understood the safety hazard associated with the placement and type of car seat she wanted to replace for her current one.

Tuesday, April 3

BFPD was dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a structure fire. A small shed on the backside of the house had smoke coming from it. There was a group of people standing around the shed with garden hoses trying to extinguish the fire. The fire crew finished putting the fire out and determined that there was discarded smoking materials in the shed. The property owner did not suspect suspicious activity and was not sure about making an insurance claim.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 200 block of Wilfred Road for a lift assist. The crew was able to lift the woman back into her chair.

Wednesday, April 4

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical problem.

BFPD responded to the 1000 block of Weld Cty Road 46 for a single vehicle fire in the passenger compartment. Engine 1 extinguished the fire while TVEMS attended to the driver. Investigation was completed as undetermined because of complete burn of passenger compartment. The crew assisted Colorado State Patrol with lights until report was finished.

Thursday, April 5

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 1000 block of Wilshire Drive for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Larimer Cty Sheriff requested Berthoud Engine 1 to respond to the 1300 block of 4th Street for a medical. Upon arrival the call was cancelled by TVEMS.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 5600 block of W Cty Rd 8E for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Friday, April 6

BFPD was dispatched to Cty Road 10E, for a 2-vehicle accident with moderate damage accident. T [1]he driver of a Toyota was deceased on scene. The passenger was also injured and was transported. The driver of the pick- up truck was uninjured. Larimer Cty Sheriff assumed command of the scene and requested a crash investigation unit.

Berthoud Engine 2 responded to the 4200 High Plains Avenue for an allergic reaction. TVEMS assumed patient care. The fire crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to the Wind Jammer for a male that had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew cleared scene and went available.

Saturday, April 7

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 800 block of 5th Street for an unconscious and not breathing female. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 4600 block of W Cty Road 2 for a 34- year-old having seizures. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Sunday, April 8

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1300 block of 4th Street for a woman who had fallen and needed assistance in getting into her apartment.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 400 block of Mountain Avenue for an 80-year-old man not feeling well. The crew assisted with walking him down the stairs into the ambulance for transport.

Incident Activity April 9-15

Monday, April 9

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 250 NB for a 2-vehicle accident with no injuries. Engine 1 assisted Colorado State Patrol with traffic control.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 53- year- old woman having breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with the loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 2100 block of Cty Road 13 for a 75- year-old man unresponsive. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with packaging and loading of the patient.

Wednesday, April 11

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 800 block of Larimer Cty Road 21 for a shed on fire. The crew extinguished the fire and overhauled the scene pending investigation. The homeowner stated he had 5 chickens, 1 peacock and 4 chicks in the shed. After looking around the crew was able to locate the chickens, peacock and 3 of the chicks.

Berthoud Fire responded to Larimer Cty Road 17 for a 2-vehicle accident with moderate damage. There were no injuries and the crew cleared all debris from roadway. Larimer Cty Sheriff completed the investigation and the vehicles were pushed out of the flow of traffic.

Thursday, April 12

BFPD was dispatched to the 2100 block of Garfield Avenue for a medical. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care, the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Friday, April 13

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical problem.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 500 block of 9th Street for a man having seizures. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 300 block of Michigan for a sick person. The fire crew and the Larimer Cty Sheriff assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Saturday, April 14

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 300 block of E. Michigan Avenue for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging and loading of the patient for transport.

Incident Activity April 16-22

Monday, April 16

BFPD responded to Berthoud Elementary for a student suffering from an asthma attack. TVEMS administered treatment.

Tuesday, April 17

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 400 block of Goose Hallow for a fall victim. The patient was lying next to her driveway, with a passerby. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 3900 block of Candle Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to Carter Lake Marina for a motorcyclist down. The crew found a man sitting outside of the marina with a park ranger. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Engine 2 responded to the intersection of Sundown Drive and Larimer County Road 21, for a power pole split in half due to high winds. The cables were still attached to the pole, but was pulling the base into the intersection. Larimer Cty Sheriff Deputy closed the road and pushed the traffic onto other surface streets. Engine 2 remained on scene until Poudre Valley REA could secure the pole.

Citizen assist to the 300 block of Victoria Street for a blown-out pilot light due to high winds. Squad 11 was able to relight the pilot light to the hot water heater.

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Athletic Club for a diabetic emergency. TVEMS arrived and administered care, the patient refused transport.

Wednesday, April 18

Berthoud Engine 2 was dispatched to the 2700 block of Kyle Circle for an 85-year-old man who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Engine 1 responded to the 1000 block of 7th Street Place for a 78-year-old man who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded and transported.

Thursday, April 19

Berthoud Fire responded to the 100 block of E. Iowa for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to the 200 block of Victoria Street for an odor investigation. The crew did a walk around and nothing was showing on the outside. There was a light haze and a smoke odor in the living room and kitchen. The homeowner stated she had made toast for breakfast and then left and when she came back she smelled the odor and called us. The fire crew continued to monitor the house, but nothing else was obvious. Although undetermined, the toaster and burnt toast was the most probable cause. The odor dissipated and the homeowner said she would replace the toaster just in case.

Friday, April 20

BFPD was dispatched to the 500 block of 9th Street for a medical. When TVEMS arrived, the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to Berthoud High School for a female having an allergic reaction. TVEMS arrived on scene and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1300 block of 4th Street for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to the 900 block of Berthoud Parkway for a woman having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Sunday, April 21

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 4000 block of Page Place for an 80-year-old woman having heart issues. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Sunday, April 22

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 500 block of 7th Street for an 86-year-old man who had fallen. The fire crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Incident Activity April 23-30

Monday, April 23

BFPD responded to the Berthoud High School for a medical. A 16-year-old girl was having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.

Citizen assist at Station 1 for a car seat inspection. The grandparent needed assistance with loosening the harness straps on the car seat. The technician verified that the seat had been installed correctly and educated the grandparent regarding loosening and tightening of the harness straps. Also verified that the straps were fit correctly to the child prior to leaving the station.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the intersection of Hwy 60 and WCR 7 for a 2-vehicle accident. Both vehicles had moderate damage, TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport. Colorado State Patrol advised us that we could clear the scene, due to the vehicles being off the roadway.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the Apple Living Center for a medical.

Wednesday, April 25

BFPD was dispatched to the 400 block of West Hill Drive, for a 59-year-old man who had suffered a seizure. The patient had a laceration on the top of his head from falling and hitting his head. TVEMS arrived and patient care was transferred and the patient was transported.

Thursday, April 26

Chief 2 responded to I-25 mm 249 SB for a 2-vehicle accident with moderate damage. All parties were out of the vehicles, stating that they had no injuries. Command assigned Engine 1 to hazard control to clear road debris.

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the Berthoud Parkway for a 48-year-old man having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded and transported.

Friday, April 27

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 17000 block of Cty Road 7 for a 68-year-old woman who was not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was then placed into the ambulance for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to Hwy 287 & LCR 8 for a 2-vehicle accident with moderate damage. Both drivers reported no injuries. The door was stuck on the mini-van and the crew had to use the hydraulic cutter. Engine 1 cleared away the debris and fluids in the roadway.

BFPD responded to a Police request for a medical assist on Highplains Drive.

Berthoud Fire responded to a medical call on 4th Street for a person with chest pain. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS for a female patient having breathing problems at I-25 mm 249 in the northbound lanes. The fire crew assisted with traffic control while TVEMS evaluated the patient.

Saturday, April 28

BFPD and TVEMS responded to N. 6th St. for a medical. The crew assisted with a lift and then were cleared from the scene.

Berthoud Fire responded with TVEMS to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire responded to a report of a grass fire near W County Road 18E. Upon arrival to the scene the crew found a small 10 X 10 fire that had been extinguished. The fire crew cleared the scene.

[2]Berthoud Fire and Loveland Fire were dispatched to a single-family residence fire on W.C.R. 3. [2] Upon arrival a medium size open ended barn was fully involved. The fire was extinguished and it was determined that the cause of ignition was unintentional.

Sunday, April 29

BFPD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at MM 251.  However, the crew was unable to locate an incident.

Berthoud Fire assisted with a walk in medical for a burned patient at Station 1. TVEMS took over patient care.

BFPD responded to a medical call on 2nd Street. The crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a MVA at the intersection of S. CR 13 and E CR 6C. An automobile and a motorcycle were involved in the accident. There were no reported injuries.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on WCR 3. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to a medical call on 7th St. TVEMS arrived and took over patient care.

Monday, April 30

BFPD responded to Suzie Lane and Hwy 60 for a 3-vehicle accident. Colorado State Patrol was on scene and all parties were out of the vehicles. The crew did mitigation on leaking fluids. They also helped the tow truck driver with debris dean-up once the vehicle was loaded. TVEMS transported one patient to the local hospital non-emergency.

Berthoud Engine 2 was dispatched to the 1800 block of N. Cty Road 31for a motorcycle down on a blind curve. No further information available at this time.
