Incident activity for August, 2013

Friday, August 2

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a resident with breathing difficulties at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Saturday, August 3

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Second Street. This was a two-car accident with moderate damage to the vehicles.  There were no injuries reported.

Monday, August 5

BFPD assisted a citizen on Willow Drive who had fallen.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on LCR 17 and Mountain Ave. Three vehicles were involved in a rear end type collision. Five patients were injured and transported.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Weld County Road 5. The fire crew arrived and found a permitted controlled burn.

BFPD responded to a dive rescue on S. County Road 31. The call was cancelled before the equipment arrived. All of the parties were safely out of the water.

BFPD responded to 400 Mountain Ave for downed power lines and maintained a safe area until  Excel energy arrived to cut the power.

Tuesday, August 6

BFPD responded to a dive call at Carter Lake for a male who was injured while riding a jet ski.

Wednesday, August 7

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Hays Market for a shopper who had fainted. The crew assisted with transporting the patient.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287 and County Road 4E involving 2 vehicles, both of which sustained heavy damage. The driver who was trapped and unconscious had to be extracted. The patient was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies where he died of his injuries on Saturday. TVEMS assisted two other injured passengers.

BFPD responded to a reported gas odor leak in a residence on E. Hwy 56. The crew found an odor near the gas stove but no leaks were found. The gas line was shut off and the resident was advised to have a professional check the stove and gas lines.

Thursday, August 8

BFPD responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Quandary Drive. The crew did not find any carbon monoxide readings. New batteries were installed in the alarm and then the crew cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. A vehicle was found off the roadway and had run out of fuel. No assistance was needed.

Saturday, August 10

BFPD responded to a medical call on First Street. The incident was cancelled while enroute.

BFPD responded to Valley Dirt Rider tract for a motorcycle accident. One patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a six-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 253. Poudre Fire and Loveland Fire assisted with traffic control and patient care. Six patients were transported for injuries.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. A single large flatbed commercial truck had rolled, sustained heavy damage and the driver was pinned in the cab. The driver was extracted and TVEMS took over patient care. The driver was transported via helicopter.

BFPD assisted a citizen on Yellowstone Road who had fallen. There were no injuries involved, the patient just needed help back to her walker.

BFPD responded to a report of a single vehicle that had gone off the roadway and ran through a fence on CR 2. There were no injuries reported.

BFPD responded to another accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250 involving a motorcyclist. There were no injuries reported.

Sunday, August 11

BFPD responded to a single vehicle rollover accident on CR 23 and CR 6. The vehicle was found on its roof with moderate damage and all parties were out of the vehicle with no injuries reported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a patient transport from Berthoud Living Center.

BFPD conducted a service call for the neighborhood citizens in Serenity Ridge concerning a fire hydrant on Megan Way.

Monday, August 12

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Second Street.

Tuesday, August 13

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Iowa Ave. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, August 14

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Fourth Street for a  person who had fallen. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported structure fire on Blue Mountain Ave. The fire crew found a small controlled burn behind a structure. The fire was under control and a permit had been obtained.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. This was a two-vehicle accident with moderate damage to both vehicles. One occupant was extricated and transported. One other injured person was transported.

Thursday, August 15

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm at Apple Leaf Assisted Living. This was a false alarm and the call was cancelled.

Friday, August 16

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287. A single vehicle had rolled down an embankment with only minor damage. There were no injuries to the occupant. TVEMS assessed the driver and no transport was necessary.

Saturday, August 17

BFPD responded to a bicycle accident at the intersection of Sleepy Hollow Road and West County Road 6. Two cyclists were injured while participating in an organized bike race. One patient complaining of shoulder and head pain was transported.

BFPD assisted a patient with a bloody nose at Fire Station One on Mountain Ave.

BFPD responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. The fire crew searched north and south bound lanes and nothing was found.

BFPD responded to a medical call for abdominal pain on Caballero Street. The fire crew assisted with medical care. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire near structures in the area of South Highway 287 and County Road 2E. The fire crew found an illegal burn. The homeowner was advised of the required permit and what products can be legally burned. The fire crew extinguished the fire.

Sunday, August 18

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. A pickup truck had left the roadway and was found tangled in the median cables. There were no injuries reported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Sundown Drive.

Tuesday, August 20

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a hip injury on W. County Road 4. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, August 21

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm at the Berthoud Living Center. This was a false alarm.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. This was a two-vehicle accident with minor to moderate damage to the vehicles and no injuries were reported.

Thursday, August 22

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. This was a rear end type two-vehicle accident. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. There were no injuries reported.

Friday, August 23

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for breathing problems on Thundering Peaks Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported fuel spill at the Kwik Korner. The fire crew absorbed and cleaned the hazardous material.

Saturday, August 24

BFPD responded to a report of a vehicle off the road on Interstate 25. While enroute to the incident, Johnstown Police Department cancelled the call.

Sunday, August 25

BFPD responded to a medical call on Alpine Sky Drive. The patient was transported.

Monday, August 26

BFPD responded to a medical call on South Iowa Ave. for chest pain. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with medical care and the patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Seventh Street.

BFPD and TVEMS assisted Berthoud Police with a medical call on East County Road 14.

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm at the Hamilton Park apartments on Fourth Street. This was a false alarm.

Tuesday, August 27

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Interstate 25. The crew was unable to find a fire in the area.

BFPD responded to a report of a gas well on Weld County Road 7 that was making loud banging noises and releasing gas and fire into the air. Upon arrival to the scene, the property owner was meeting with the owner of the well. The well owner checked for hazardous conditions and did not find anything out of the ordinary. The fire crew was released from the scene.

Thursday, August 29

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted with a medical call for a person with a shoulder injury on West County Road 4.

Friday, August 30

BFPD responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. The crew was unable to find an accident in the area.

BFPD responded to a report of an illegal burn on Driftwood Place. The fire crew found an illegal fire burning in the backyard. The crew asked the homeowner to extinguish the fire. The crew explained the policy of burning in a purchased self contained fire pit when burning in town limits.

BFPD assisted a citizen who walked into Station 1 on Mountain Ave. needing medical attention. TVEMS arrived and the patient was transported.

Saturday, August 31

BFPD responded to a report of a person on Columbine Circle who was choking. The crew assisted TVEMS with the patient care and the transport.

BFPD and TVEMS assisted a person on Eighth Street who had a small laceration on the head. The patient refused transport.
